          Good night (02:17 a.m. local).

What a quite old topic (from April 2021). Started by a member who since March 2022 never dared to be here?

What would you say is the reason for that. Too much disputes between a B744 aviation enthusiast, Join Date December 2008, and another rather unknown man, join Date June 2009?

          I hope not.

Because if that were the truth then the old man is really guilty.

          Back on topic.

My friend. Did we ever since we are here talk about flight simulators for the use on computer (or on xbox as I've learned)? I know that one (or two?) years ago I had a conversation

with Brian (the one and only), about hardware for flight simulators that we use at home.

And I wondered, such an experienced man, and he uses flight simulators at home. Brian must be 5 or 10 years older than me.

And you? Do you use msfs 2020?

Gabriel, when do we know that we're no longer 20? When today you remember that, for sure, somewhere in your closet, a dvd version of ms fsx and fsx acceleration must be.

Published (in Europe) November 2nd 2007... So, more than 17 years ago. And two or three weeks ago I thought, why not again fsx.

With three or four quite funny aircraft that were included back then: the Beech Baron 58, the motorized paraglider trike (!) with... as far as I remember 60 hp, and...

an early simulator version of the F/A-18 Hornet.

            Hmm... back on topic.

PS: System requirements for fsx: 14 GB of free harddisk space (!). Today we should assume that there is of course a fsx version for apple iphone...

I have not had MSFS, or a computer that can run it, since 2014.

You didn't miss anything from a simulation POV. In fact it's worse than FSX/P3D and MSFS 2024 isn't any better from what I've seen.
This is the first time since FS2 that I haven't bought the latest MS simulator.

Me not either. No experience with msfs 2020 here on my side. The system requirements are huge, or what would you say?

Imho, this not so very brandnew software (released to the market in the year 2020) requires us to use ... a video card with 8 GB video memory (only on the video card)

                  or more (!).

And, the no no criterium for me, 150 GB to download through your or mine old telephone line. That's too huge for me.

So. I don't use it until today.

Gabriel. Ahm, there is another thing which in my eyes msfs 2020 makes rather unattractive.

Let's talk about our home airports!

In how far do you feel that your home airport is brilliantly depicted in msfs 2020?

As far as me is concerned, I feel absolutely nothing. 23,68 Euro for absolute darkness on the apron...

In my eyes, a software that does contain my home airport and which is sold for more than 7,49 Euro

                    MUST shine brightly at night.

                    As the Original does (!):

And also your home airport is not 100% brilliantly depicted in msfs 2020, as I assume..

So. 2 potential msfs 2020 users less.

Which in my eyes is not really a problem. Too much requirement for video cards, too less local accuracy (!).

I'm happy also without this 150 GB monster.

PS: Sadly, not all of the sources that I mention show a good thumbnail. Here in this case, the thumbnail really is 866x240. For bigger sizes
pls ask the Original photographer, he sells the 1600 and 1920px wide sizes.
