Well. I don't know if we all know the ole German saying, mentioned by JFK when he was in Germany. Today I don't like to go so far as JFK, and I don't even know if he'd repeat his words today again. Because the aviation situation in West Berlin has dramatically changed since 1963.
And I almost doubt if he were able to identify Berlin today, with his knowledge about the city from 1963.

I had to look up the route which JFK took back then in 1963, because Neu Schönefeld (also called "BER") only exists since a few months. His route was (and thanks to berlin dot de)
Cologne, Bonn, Rhein/Main (Frankfurt), Wiesbaden and Hanau AAF,

and then he landed at Tegel, June 26th 1963 "um 9.45 Uhr" .

This route is no longer possible because Tegel International airport does no longer exist (!) .

Against all the wishes from the people in West Berlin, against all good advice from at least one international airline which I know quite well,
the Government of Germany in the year 2012 has decided to close Tegel Intl airport. Which became a fact on May 5th 2021 ("Entwidmung") .

My opinion about Berlin hasn't changed since I am a jetphotos member, so since more than 14 years (or even before):
    Tegel muss erhalten bleiben.

Or what do you think about a metropolis region with more than 3.6 million inhabitants, but nowadays only 2 runways (at Neu Schönefeld - ICAO: EDDB)?

Neu Schönefeld isn't even in Berlin, that's why it's called Neu Schönefeld, near Berlin.

To make a long story short, what did I do with my p3dv4 simulator. Because Neu Schönefeld doesn't fit for propeller aviation in West Berlin, I reopened the Gatow airfield,
with its full size (08/26 1842 m Asphalt).

    Stay tuned for pictures.

This is Berlin, and what orbx makes of it: a Winter Wonderland.

And this is Gatow and what I've made of it so far, with the help of aerial images. The taxiway layout seems to be not quite accurate yet, and I am just at the beginning to add realistic landclass
around the airfield, but for a short monday morning impression that's not so bad imho.
What you can see already, and I optimized Gatow airfield for orbx global and vector, Berlin has alot of water. So, I added a little bit more than only one approach light for the 08L/26R ,
    for reasons of orientation.
