  • Playing In The PA-28

    Hi folks,

Took the Piper out last weekend from Barton (in Manchester) for a quick run down to Northern Wales. Made a long U-turn around the RAF Valley and the famous "Mach Loop" area, then came back. Anyway, on with the screenshots

Aircraft: Piper PA-28 Cherokee Arrow III
    Airline: Private, owner D Coleman
Registration: G-BYTF (soon to be registered G-DALE!)
    Callsign: Golf-Tango-Foxtrot
    Departure Airport: Barton Aerodrome (EGCB)
    Arrival Airport: Barton Aerodrome (EGCB)
    Cruise Altitude: 5,000ft
    Cruise Speed: 120kias
    ATD: 15.05
    ATA: 16.35

Going through the final pre-flight checklists, shortly before departure. A very happy looking Captain in the left seat

Lining up on Rwy 09L for takeoff, all checklists complete.

Into the climb while battling with strong crosswinds and turbulence, although it may not look like it in this particular shot.

Close up study while banking left to head south.

Still banking and at the same time staying within the low level corridor height of 1,250ft.

Heading South now towards Northern Wales with Barton in view.

Close up of the pilots as we climb to our cruise altitude of 5,000ft.

Making the long right hand U-turn in the "Mach Loop" area, as seen from the cockpit.

    Heading back to Barton.

This was quite a close one. We came within a mile of this Aer Lingus BAe 146 who's heading for Manchester. Time to get back down in the low level corridor I think!

Looking out towards the Liverpool area, with the airport (centre), Fiddlers Ferry power station (right) and Runcorn Bridge (far right) all in view.

Now on final approach for Barton, with a strong 20+kts crosswind blowing against us.

Short final for Rwy 09L, as seen from the Captain's seat.

Touchdown on Rwy 09L, not too bad considering the strong wind and turbulence.

Going through the shut down checklist shortly after arriving.

That's all for now folks, all comments and questions welcome!

    Dale

It should be an Arrow 28R to retract the L/G (it is it?)

        Nice model!

Yeah the landing gear is retractable but I usually just leave it down when I'm not going far.

LoL, I wanted to hear if the BaE did something to prevent you to get hat near. Didnt it turned away, or maybe maked a dramatic turn to avoid collision with the crazy piper pilot
