I usually don't
Sometimes when approaching I turn to tower view, but not as another window, just press "s" and see 3-5 secs of that view and then back to cockpit

I also sometimes do this, but I also find myself getting distracted by the spot plane view and wanting to watch that view too much!! Not a good thing for the instrument scan and concentrating on the task at hand!!
