Woke up all happy to know that today I am flying back to the sunshine city After spending a week in rainy nad foggy London, I just couldn't wait to arrive at sunny and warm LA.
Packed my things, grabbed a quick breakfast and called a cab to drive me to the airport. My flight was to depart at 10:30am so I had to be at the airport around 7am... awesome.
After check in at 8am I realised I have some 2 hours to kill, so I just walked around the airport, looking at all the different aircrafts, parked at LHR. Soon it was time for me to board..
This will be my first flight with Virgin Atlantic and I am really looking forward to it. We were boarding right next to an Air Canada Boeing 767-300 going to Montreal.
The boarding went smoothly and I was happy thinking that we will depart London on time, when a F/A announced that we will be delayed by about an hour due to technical difficulties.. great. Time to watch the weather get worse and worse.
Finally after abour 45 minutes we got pushed back and we begun to taxi. It was getting foggier and foggier outside..
The crew was going through the safety proceures whne I decided to take this pic of LHR's new ATC tower. I have to spend the next 12 hours, squished in this economy seat... great.
Taxiing by a newly built terminal. We will be number 2 for take off, behind a UAL flight to KORD.
The Queen is almost ready to depart
Finally entering the active runway. My last moments in the foggy Europe
Last checks before take off and a long transatlantic and transcontinental flight
And we are finally rotating
Amazing wingflex !
I wanted to take a picture of LHR's terminal but that's all I got
Climbing out of LHR throught these thick, rainy clouds
Out of clouds ! No more turbulences
Climbing through 20000ft, with some traffic flying above
Storm below ? I am not surprised - it's UK, what did you expect
Close and personal..
Cruising at FL420, over the Atlantic Ocean, somewhere near Iceland
Last picture I took before going to sleep
But I couldn't really sleep in those economy seats, so just napped for some hour or so, then had to enjoy the IFE..
Flying directly above Greenland... doesn't seem to be green at all
I somehow managed to fall asleep later and woke up when we were flying over southcentral Canada.
Somewhere over Canadian-US boarder
The Salt Lake below.. getting warmer and warmer
Leaving the snow behind, as we enter California's airspace
Descending over the Los Angeles subburbs
Ending the first turn to the right.. the next one will be to intercept the localizer
Holding 180 knots at 3000ft with Los Angeles skyline in the background
South-Central LA
Visual-ing my way to LAX
Over In-N-Out ! Taken from Sepulveda Blvd.
The famouse LAX pilars in sight
Flaring
One of the smoothest touchdowns I've ever done in a 747
Slowing down from 145kias to 60kias :P
Taxiing to the gate
Parked next to Air France from Paris and Mexicana from Mexico City
Welcome to LA... x
Back home.. now where did I park my car ?
Hope you enjoyed them
