  • Save a fortune on clear gloss liquid.

    Here’s a comparison for you....

Tamiya Gloss Coat 10ml brush on. Up to 4.00
The same in a 100ml spray can. Up to 9.00
Pledge Floor polish liquid. 800ml for up to 14.00.

all prices quoted are from Amazon Prime UK.

800ml in the 10ml Tamiya jars would cost you an eye watering 160.00. The same volume in the Tamiya spray cans would cost you 64.00.
To be specific, you need the clear liquid Pledge product called “Revive It Floor Gloss”.
The Pledge product is what used to be sold as “Johnson’s Klear” and is without doubt the best I have come across for a clear coat. It can be sprayed undiluted through an airbrush and brushes on without leaving any brush marks. Clear plastic parts such as canopies come up gleaming crystal clear and look like real glass. Decal placement and adhesion is improved with a light coating and a further coating once the decals have dried seals them nicely. Cleaning airbrushes and bristle brushes is a cinch using warm, slightly soapy water.

    Thank you Brian,

Does clear liquid Pledge work on diecast metal scale models too?

I see no reason why it wouldn’t work on die cast models.

With a new avatar photo, after almost 20 years, and all that one day before my birthday? Confess, somewhere in your soul you are a good man.

And I'm still lookin for a translation. Clear gloss liquid, in German.

But that's not the fetish which you would use on a car, e.g.
'that violet night star pearl effect color only works under at least three layers of clear lacquer.'
        ?

I mean, the price sounds pretty much the same. 800 ml for 160,-

I should ask Lufthansa Technik how many ml they need for a LH-B744.

PS: The definition of a hobby: where men spend quite alot of $$ , also in contrast to their wifes. If it were cheap than it wouldn't be a hobby.

Wow. Now I know that you are less than 4 years younger than my father was. He would have been 76 by March 27th, if he were still alive.

And at once a British man comes to my mind who regularly appears on German TV. He collects panzer, but not scale 1:100, but 1:1, the real big machines. Give me 48 hours and I'll find out his name. In the meanwhile, .. we all urgently need a hobby, don't we. In these insane times...

German words are not really hated in GB, that's what I feel. Autobahn, Panzer, Schlittenfahrt, ...

My hobbies? Plane spotter at EDDL since more than 35 years. And, a little computer specialist, which includes Flight Captain Randazzo and the simulator section of this very brilliant platform.
            ...

There is one fact since more than 12 years which bothers me a little. I have never consciously met one jetphotos member, never during all those years. It might have happened by chance, because I really often visit my home airport.

That's one wish which I like to fulfil before I'm 45.

PS: There is another man who is only 3 days younger than my father. The name is Mr Eric Clapton CBE ...
