The FAA civil aircraft database describes it as being a G4.

It is a G300. The FAA and ICAO consider it a G-IV but it is a variant that falls under that official G-IV designation.

After c:n 1500 the G-IV models became G300/400's

This is the problem with Gulfstream types. The FAA civil aircraft register shows N700NY as being a G-4 but the LAAS Corporate jets of the world website shows it as being a G-300.
Very confusing !
Do you screeners have a particular database which you use to identify aircraft types for the purpose of an image upload to Jetphotos ?

Hi Brian. Well LAAS is indeed a good starting point. And which cn the ac has.

FAA list them as base model G-IV. This is to speed up any certification issue if needed for the newer models. Many aircraft are listed as such with the authorities.

G300/400 is in the end a Gulfstream marketing name
