  • Is Southwest coppertop a special scheme?

I shot this one last weekend

Southwest Coppertop by KE7WOX, on Flickr

It's one of 4 airplanes that retained the Coppertop paint. Would that be considered a special scheme now that the entire fleet is blue (with the exception of the "Ones")?

Hmm good question. Are those 4 specilly earmarked to retain these colours or are they are getting the new colours in due time?

As far as I know they're retaining it, this one is named "The Herbert D Kelleher", who was Southwest's founder or something like that.

I submitted it as a special scheme and it was accepted - so I'm guessing yes - it is.

I believe these 4 aircraft also represent the initial 4 destinations Southwest started to serve. They are gold in color and the scheme is different from the mustard design. I also have one in d/b and it is a special scheme.
