  • Registration question.

    Hi guys,

    I want to upload a shot of this aircraft;

    Now here's where I get lost. I have a very limited knowledge, none actually, on Spanish Air Force regs, but in the main websites, the registration comes up as C.5-175, as written on the aircraft. So my question is pretty obvious; why is it C.5-223 insteas of -175?

    Thanks in advance!

    Because C.5-175 is a fake reg which was never issued. The true reg. is C.5-223. This from www.scramble.nl ........

    C.5-175 FAKE F-86F-25 176-381 Cuatro Vientos pre feb74 feb12 museum, really C.5-223, coded '1-175' C.5-223
    If it 'ain't broken........ Don't try to mend it !

      Often times, aircraft that have been restored and put on display do not carry the original markings of the aircraft, but may be painted to recreate a better known example - that happens often with WWII War Birds where the original was lost over time. Apparently this is the case with this F-86 in the museum, and since the true registration is known, that is what is used in the JP.net database.
