  • What is a good camera?

I currently use a little Pentax 'tourist' camera (which has coped pretty well) and I am now wanting to get a good quality camera, but I don't know whether I should get an Olympus C-750 or Panasonic DMC-FZ10, or if there are better ones, in the same range. Can somebody please help me?

Hi and welcome to jp.net. Both cameras are very good. But quite a few people here use the Olympus. The Panasonic is also a very good camera.
You should decide, but stay away from the camera called Fuji S5000. It may be cheap, and it may look like a high end camera but it's not. Alot of Grain under zoom.

        Panasonic FZ10

        C-750

        Sony F717

I use the F717 and its image quality is really amazing. It does have 5x optical zoom which may seem small compared to the FZ10 or C-750. Its got the image quality while the others got the zoom. A teleconverter can be used on the F717 and others.

Do your research, that is my first recommendation, and what I tell everyone that is searching for a camera.

What do you want to use it for. Are you really into photography? If you are ready to take that big step to a DSLR i would reccomend a 300D/D Rebel from Canon or the D70 which is coming out in a few weeks from Nikon. If you don't want to invest in a DSLR get a C-750 or one of the other Olympus "ultra zooms".

I'm getting my 300D for my bday in a couple weeks

Thanks everyone! . I think I'll probably go for the C-75O, it meets the sort of requirements I need, and it's cheap.
