I recently took a night shot of the Copa Airlines with her new retro scheme, less than a day after she came out of the paint shop. Myself and another photographer were out there at 3am in the morning to photographer her. We were near each other when we took the shot. Mind you, there was only one photo of the Copa with her new colors posted so far.

I uploaded my shot within a couple of hours as a hot photo (prior to the other individual uploading his shot). My shot was rejected as Invalid Hot, yet the individual who was next to me his shot was accepted! How is that possible?

I appealed it, and it came back as Invalid Hot, without any explanation.

One can only assume there are some rules for certain individuals that get bent while for others there are different rules by some screener(s).
...or mistakes happen? Sometimes the simplest explanations are the correct ones, rather than some complicated conspiracy against you

I can't answer for you but on JP side, the interest is really minimal (again, covered plane doesn't help too) so no, jumping the queue here is not really justified.

Hot photos is one of the main reason for slow queue as they are really tons of them per day and many return again and again after rejections. I believe it's kind of common sense to avoid jumping an already very long queue for such a small reason.
Just some of my grain of salt, prolly not something that JP should think about.

Many people actually do care about small things changed. There are people who use JP to research fleets of their interest; there are flight sim repainters looking forward to details added to the A/C ; there are people simply like and care about small things changed that can be immediately reflected on JP site and FR24.

But there are prolly a lot more people who won't care/hate this because it is just so minimal and takes away limited screening resources...

Absolutely nothing to do with the size of the plane.

If my second uploading picture is correctly rejected ,I think JP should update the uploading guide , because I think no only me , many JP contributors (especially new JP users may confused about this)
Im am new here but I think it has to deal with it being a GA aircraft firstoff. This isn't as big of a deal as a 737 getting repainted. Secondly the size of the sticker is quite small and I'm not sure the it would need a queue jump for just that small of a sticker.

Yeah it's not forbidden but one has to understand that the interest to the photo is much lower.

It also comes to what you want to do with your slots. I personally almost never upload a covered plane as I think they look pretty bad in my portfolio.

    Cheers

Cover cannot be reasonably avoided and it basically is considered to be a part of the aircraft(not a foreground clutter), so they are not actually forbidden.
For example this shot does feature even bigger cover:

This photo of mine has a cover as well:

And there are plenty of them in the DB.

On a last note, I would be more selective and keep my slots for non-covered aircrafts, but that's your choice there....

    Hope it helps

This photo was accepted hot as the tail logo colour was changed to white. I wanted ask whether other registrations of Kuwait Airways featuring the change will also be hot ? Thank you !
If it's a permanent change to the livery, then yes the first image only of each reg. with the change will be considered hot.

started a topic Question about the rule of hot photos

Question about the rule of hot photos

Recently, I visited Chenghu airport for a spotting trip, and I took many photos of aircrafts that does not have photos in database of JP. I found an aircraft that already in the database in JP, but I saw there is a new sticker added on this aircraft(B-10KP) , then I decide to upload the photo of this aircraft to JP.
Firstly, I uploaded the photo of this aircraft to the forum for help ( Special thanks for the friendly photographers and screeners in JP forum ) After listening to their editing advice, I uploaded this photo as hot photo to JP, but I got rejection contrast. After this photo got rejected, I appealed this photo , the senior screener still rejected this photo , but both screeners did not say this photo is not qualify for hot photos ( Probably more than 2 screeners, because I believe this photo has been voted for rejected)
But today, when I got a empty slot and I edited this photo again and re-upload to JP as hot photos. Surprisingly, this photo's rejected by rejection invalid hot (the screener think the sticker is too small)I think the first screener who rejected my photo should gave me a rejection invalid hot for avoiding me to upload this photo as hot photo again(if the rule is true that small sticker is not qualify for hot photos, even it has not been announce in forum)...... It will save my time and slot , also other screners' time.
It is true that the sticker is small , But I was just simply followed the uploading rule of JP :
Reference from UPLOAD GUIDELINES - New version
    Link:
    https://forums.jetphotos.com/forum/a...S-New-version=
Hot photos rule: Any change to the colour scheme (for example: removal of a special scheme, new stickers) or to the aircraft itself (Winglets, Sharklets) - Note that this is only valid for active aircraft
It only mentioned that added new sticker is available to uploading as hot photos ( It doesn't say the size of the sticker )
If my second uploading picture is correctly rejected ,I think JP should update the uploading guide , because I think no only me , many JP contributors (especially new JP users may confused about this)
Link of my first rejected photo of B-10KP :https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=10331237
Link of my second rejected photo of B-10KP :https://www.jetphotos.com/viewqueued_b.php?id=10335883
I hope friendly Jetphotos staff members could giving explanation of this , thanks for your reading!
