I'm not sure,I think Sunset is a four line street.

Is Sunset hard to walk across? Going east from the transfer terminal on the 212, the stop is on the opposite side of the street.

Can't wait to come back to sunny Las Vegas.

    PortColumbus,

The observation area near 25L is a small parking along the Sunset Road.
I think the bus stop on Escondido St is not so far from that area.(Chris,or other LAS spotters correct me when I 'm wrong.)
I dont no or there holes in the fence (I hope),the only thing a remember me,there is a high fence along the Sunset Road, you need a six ore seven step ladder.

I know I've asked this a few times on anet, but the 212 CAT bus does have a stop on Escondido St., correct? I tried my damnedest to find where on Sunset the observation area near 25L is at, and I came up with Escondido, am I far off?

I will be there June 12-17, shooting from the parking deck and the observation area if I can find my way around.

Taxiing for morning departure. - Photo taken at Las Vegas - McCarran International (LAS / KLAS) in Nevada, USA on April 24, 2004.

    I guess Eastern Avenue,correct me when I 'm wrong.
Along the Sunset road is a small photographers location (parking) are there holes in the fence?
That looks like it was taken from inside the perimeter, from the north side of taxiway Alpha, facing south.

I have been to Luxor. Its good and not too expensive. No airport view though unless you are on the east side of the pyramid.
The best airport view might be from Mandalay Bay but I think its not a cheap place to stay...

    George,

Unfortunately, the international traffic is pretty spread out. JAL arrives around 8:30am, Virgin at around 1pm, and Philippines at around 5:30pm. Doesn't get any more spread out than that.

Have a look at some of the websites for the strip hotels -- good deals can be had!! I have stayed on the top floor of Luxor overlooking the airport for under $30 a night. You just have to luck out.

Airwim: It'd be great to meet you when you come out!

    Chris,
What is roughly the best time to be there for the international traffic? Is it spread throughout the day or bunched up? Just curious. Already looking at flight times and such trying to get a handle on how to plan my trip out there.
Of course, I'll be expecting a local photo guide when I get there.
As for hotels, my wife loves the Bellagio but I hear they are really pricey. I'd like to find a nice one there that she can do stuff at (ie: gamble away my hard-earned cash) while I spot planes...something not terribly expensive.

    Hi guys,

Regarding spotting days, I find Thurs, Fri, and Sunday to be the best. Worst days are probably Wednesday and Saturday.

Thursday and Sunday will get you all of the main international carriers at LAS (Virgin 744, Philippines A340-300, JAL 747-400). MyTravel has also been bringing an A330 in on Thursday. The only international service you'll see on Friday is JAL.

Vegas is a city full of hotels, and since I live here, I can't really recommend any.
