  • I think Jetphotos influences my aviation photography way too much...

I have noticed this for months now and I have a feeling that my aviation photos have been heavily influenced by Jetphotos in many ways especially the composition and post processing to get photos accepted by screeners. Every time photographing aircraft, I tend to position the aircraft in the middle of the frame for the sake of centering them to submit to JP later. It's to the point that totally forgot the creativity side of it(rule of third or any other composition technique) and went for a full shot of the whole aircraft that my photos are super boring.

I don't know what to do. Yes, I want to get creative but at the same time I also want my photos to show on FlightRadar24.

    Any one having this problem?

If you do aviation photography just in order to get your pics on FR24, then it might be the root problem.
Aviation photography should be about traveling, meeting friends, taking great photos and so on.... if, at the end of the day, some of those images are for JP and/or FR24, that's just a bonus, it should never be a main goal.

    Regards
    Alex

One of my friends introduced me to Jetphotos and asked me why don't you submit to this website haha. Yeah, the root problem is really me and I'm trying to change that. Thank you for your reply, Alex!

I take all sorts of photos when plane spotting, my own creative ones and some I want for jet photos, I haven’t been on the platform long enough to have this problem but I have already saved and framed a few of my creative photos and am still uploading to JP.

Same. JP has made me a better photographer though. I photographed aviation for years before ever knowing JP. Then I tried to upload what I thought was a great shot, and it wasn’t. Long story very short, I learned how to make better in-camera shots and rely on post processing to slightly fine-tune.

I have some shots I love but will never make JP, many because of my local background interest. For instance, landings with a snow-covered local mountain in the background which is rarely snow-covered, but to actually identify the mountain the crop is not right, Or, a shot of the local tower in the background, but heat hazed. Prized to me but not JP material.

Give it time. That's all I can say.
