As stated many times, taking too many screeners isn't a solution as it affects the consistency and training them takes energy and time. we believe 40 crew members is a good number and we won't add more for the time being.
Alex
Let's just agree to never say never.
Or as Pope Pius X said, "We've done 30, let's do 31."
Fair call. Just a shame we never got an email letting us know before hand.
Just remember folk the screeners screen on a voluntary basis and don't get paid.
Consistency is key, not more numbers, so the one way to reduce this is to reduce the amount people can upload. It sucks, it has been a good run. Just a shame that we have to wait 3-4 weeks for photos to be screened now.

The current wait time is 13 days. The queue content can be seen in the personal queue page. Above the own shots, the total quantity is visible. Set to 31 days for a full view. Note that all pics are done for Oct. 13 and older. (except the few in review). It could also be seen that the daily upload quantity has gone back - mostly above 2k for the first half of the month and then a little below the 2k mark. (a more precise statement is pointless as the days fluctuate by 25% and more.)
Thank you. Just out of curiosity, it would be interesting to know how many were accepted and the acceptance percentage
Are you talking about Elite folks percentage of acceptance? I used to be able to see mine, however it has gone.
As much as we have complained a little, the que is down to 12 days, which is a good outcome. Hopefully it stays this way, however we will have to wait and see what happens come European summer.
As for someone complaining about 100 shots on the same angle, well sometimes there are camera and location constraints. I know that from when I went to LHR I suffered from Vignetting, so I could only upload certain shots, and it was unfortunately the same angle.
My biggest issue is at the moment is consistency with night shots. There is a huge amount of variations between screeners at the moment. I know that will change in due course.
I would be lying if I said I am not disappointed with this change. I have been on JP for nearly 15 years and never used 100 slots, and if my memory is correct, the max number of pics I have had in the queue has been 39. My JP upload goal for each week is not more than 20-30 shots when possible and I can work on my pics only on the weekends; so, the extra slots did help. Having said that, the most important issue for JP community seems to the queue size and if this move helps, I am fully supportive of it.
I feel for the screeners for being stuck between a rock and hard place. They are dependent on FR24 for tooling and site improvements which has not been forth coming and on the other hand have to deal with frustration of JP users. Really hope the acceptance-based queue system is implemented sometime soon.
I used to be an Elite member for years, been on here since 2004 and really until now I actually realized the ex-Elite members had that 100 slot perk, I've been at 20 slots forever. Seems I never got it. Anyway, I do believe a new system needs to be implemented. For quite a long time now I pretty much only upload hot photos as the queue wait is always over 15 days. I have no problem in waiting even longer but it just gets tiring to see photos rejected for missing a dash in a serial number or not ticking a category or just any minor rejection issue. Whenever I do upload let's say my 20 slots I do always try to submit the best I have just to make sure I'm not wasting time on a "chance" that a marginal photo will get through even if it's a really rare plane or something along those lines.
My mission was always to have most of the stuff I captured on here but obviously that is impossible with so many factors going in to the spotting part (weather, lighting, etc. etc.) but I continue to think JP is the best place to have your shots and where they will eventually be seen by others. Personally, I have become quite detached from the hobby itself due to not really having a purpose to spot and what to do with the photos; hence the "hot photos" giving at least something to chase or look forward too. Perhaps I'm going a bit off topic here but I always loved the badges system, maybe some more interesting perks/incentives could be given to photographers and thus drive up quality and better/more interesting stuff getting uploaded.
As I see, most of the old users write negative opinions here. This what actually JP gave up - it was a site for spotters to share and gather photos, a purpose to spot and chase new challeges. Now it is focused on creating consistent content for FR24 and they need only three side shot of each registration, the other photos are unnecessary server traffic and diskspace (hmm actually 6M photos is not a lot - about 12TB). At this point I do not think new acceptance based system will help, as the top rated uploaders will have 20 slots (the rest lower, to limit uploads even more). I will probably keep uploading within given limits, to achieve what was my goal for the last years. Simultaneously I have to redefine all habits and spotting procedures connected with JP, that I have buildt over the 12 years, probably by seeking other ways, but looking forward for better future of JP.
no one is excluded. Alex wrote it at the beginning
You are incorrect. Crew members are excluded.
There are currently ten crew members (screeners) with more than 20 images in the queue. This accounts for fewer than 2% of the current total of images in the queue, meaning this small benefit for an otherwise unpaid/uncompensated job is adding ~4 hours of wait time to the normal queue. I think people can live with that.

Thanks for confirming that. It honestly got a bit suspicious for specific uploaders. I can understand the decision though and really hope for a future fair slot system for all based on acceptance percentage.
No one needs 100 slots if the screening time gets hopefully to a decent level.
