How many do the crew have? A couple I've noticed recently have uploaded a lot more than 20. Spend more time doing their own photos than trying to reduce the queue methinks.

The sooner a new system comes into play the better, the previous attempts have failed miserably. Any thoughts of taking up politics?

You can't really say anything. They are trying their best to screen photos and they also have their freedom to upload their own photos.
        You must respect their rights.

Do you have a time frame for this? Reason I ask is I (and probably a lot of others) have lost all ability to upload images to the forums. Previous it worked with the image button, but now that gives me "error processing this image notify the site administrator" and "PHP max size exceeded" messages. Just hoping that the new forum will resolve these.

          Thanks

Forums have been having issues for a while. Like with changes to uploading/slots/queue control FR24 have said they will look into things, but it's been months/years, so I wouldn't expect much at this point, never mind any specific time frame when things might get addressed.

            • Thanks Dana - when Alex said "immediate emergency", I thought it might be something that could get in quickly, but, oh well, keep building up the stock of "pre-screening" images until it happens.

Actually from what I know we're more talking about a 2-3 weeks span, the work is currently in progress.

                • If Jetphotos was having issues in relation to new projects or developments, I would hope that they would look to the contributors to help. Many of us would be delighted to invest in the site, if it helped it to develop further.

If it's not a rude question, how does JP earn revenue - and are there any plans afoot to develop new revenue streams?

                  • I don't want to be repetitive. There are 29,0000 photos in the queue, a good part of which should be rejected immediately. But these wait 25 days to be projected, lengthening the waiting time for acceptable photos. I propose to enable a certain number of users with an acceptable acceptance rate, to whom to entrust the task of immediately eliminating the clearly unacceptable photos and, I add, without the possibility of appeal by the uploader.

                    • After a couple of months we can say this measure had ZERO effect on the queue and the waiting time. Still over 30.000 pictures waiting for being screened and the acception ration is still as low as before. Enough suggestions has been made to shrink the queue but JP unfortunately doesn't care.

                      • I can live with the 20 queue limit, if it were short - even medium - term and if I knew that JP were looking at ways to improve things; I maintain that AI offers a lot of potential; sure it would need a lot of testing and it would probably need some considerable investment. That would be feasible if JP introduced some kind of subscription package to raise some revenue.

I really enjoy this site and Jetphotos generally; I want to see it succeed, but I fear that it will become the Kodak of aviation sites. I would like to see what JP.com envisions for the site in five or ten years time. Sell us a vision and include us in what the future for this site is. We want to be part of it and we want to help it succeed.

                        • I see all the comments about JP should do this, JP should do that. The people at JP are working their damnedest to keep JP going. However, it is FR24 that controls everything, including the purse strings, the development, etc. FR24 will not respond to the JP people let alone any of the uploaders, etc. I REALLY feel for the people at JP, Alex, Dana, all of the crew, because their hands are tied. Can you imagining taking your car into a shop for repairs and the shop says, sorry, it's going to be three weeks because our owners won't let us work on it before then. In my mind, that is what the folk at JP are facing. In our cases with the car, we can go to another shop down the road and get the help we need. There are only so many JP's and I left the other site because of honestly ridiculous screening standards. Until FR24 opens up the coffers for changes to be made to JP, we are stuck in my opinion. It's not like it's a revenue source for FR24 like the subscriptions at FR24 do. And, no, they are not going to open up subscriptions at JP again. We have been down that road already. Just my 0.02c.

                            • I think a lot of you are missing the mark here. All the screeners are VOLUNTEERS and do this in their OWN time. It is a huge community that has been built. JP has risen in popularity ever since FR24 took over and photos being shown on the FR24 platform. I have been uploading for over 20 years and still supporting the site. I have thousands of photos to edit still and many more to upload, but I am sure as anything not complaining.

As for AI, if photographers actually pre screened their shots with the same tools that the screeners have then there would be very little rejections. Dust spots are a big thing, followed by under exposed shots and contrast. Maybe put AI in as a pre screening tool before the screeners see it. Build it so it does not affect your slot count? Aviation photography is very subjective at the best of times and only a person can have full control.

                              • I don`t complain about the screeners and their work. I don't want my 100 slots back. I complain about the huge queue and lack in quality of photos being added to it and the long waiting time. The long time supporters were definitely not the problem for the long queue. More screeners don`t solve the problems.

And I complain about FR24, which is the real problem as they don`t care about JP. Thats what I hear all the time from the people behind JP and thats my personal opinion too. But why is JP not acting? There are easy methods. FR wants always the newest picture, so remove the hot photo button, let's see what happens. There are more and more cheaters, so remove the "registration" button and there are no more cheaters and they can't register anymore. New photographers are not needed, there are 28k already uploading! If this doesn't help, stop screening. FR did almost nothing since the relaunch of JP but earn millions! And the screeners get a FR24 subscription for their work? Is that fair?
