Auto fill and registration search

Hi,

Hope this is the right forum for this topic. Recently I had a pic of US Coast Guard Aérospatiale MH-65E Dolphin, tail number 6534 rejected for 'Hot Photo'. The rejection was indeed correct since pictures of this aircraft already exist in the JP database. I only wanted to point out a couple of things that led to the mistake of it being uploaded as 'Hot Photo'.

First, the Auto Fill did not work; Aircraft fields were not populated.

Second to confirm it was hot, I did a search of 6534 using the 'Search Bar' on the top (did not use Advanced Search) - Aviation photos on JetPhotos. Looks like when this is done, it searches first for all CN containing 6534 and not registration. All pics in first page were not of USCG helicopter. Those were in the second page towards the end. Here, it is completely my mistake that I missed to see the second page of search. Would it not be better for direct 'Search' function to look for registration first and then CN? I am guessing most photographers are searching for reg.

First about auto-fill. This is a help tool only, The uploader is responsible for the info, so if autofill blanks, you van always use input via the menu. And 6534 is since the last upload upgraded. To MH-65E so autofill would be bad anyway.

And about the search, if I fill in 6534 in the search bar I only get all 8 uploads of this Dolphin. So I am a bit confused you state otherwise?

Searching only for "6534" gets you 87 results of various aircraft. If you use "Modify seach" directly under the search bar, go to keyword and select registration. Directly left of it you have Categories. Select Helicopter photos and voila, you get 8 pictures of your "hot" 6534.

Fully agree that it is only a tool, and uploader is responsible for the info. So, if Auto fill picks something, I verify it is correct. If it is empty, then I go with Search which bought me to the second point.

You stated in the search bar on top of the site. As showed, if you fill in 6534 you only get that Dolphin. So I still fail to see your point of it being not handy?

Advanced searcg you need to select indeed what you are searching for, registration, airline, serial, etc…

If you type in 6534 and hit Enter, you will get the 87 results I was talking about. If you wait for the search preview to show up, you get what you are showing.

Hello Dutch, any chance you can modify the autofill of SP-LVG, I got a very annoying rejection of it as an aircraft with the same reg was ntu by LOT but since it was the first image, the SN still autofills as that aircraft. Would be much appreciated by me and probably others who upload SP-LVG.

I don't understand. A rejection? You can simply change the auto-fill values during the upload. I'm experiencing this problem quite often.
