  • Rationale for rejections on easy fixes?

I've had some instances where a photo has been rejected for say, having a category box checked (or un-checked) by mistake. That's fine. The part I don't get is why I usually can't just fix that after the fact without having to reupload the photo all over again. I've seen it being fixed for me at least once, so it just seems like it depends on whether or not the screener is feeling generous that day.

Ditto for "similar photo" rejections. I go, "ok, I'll just remove the old similar photo in question and appeal." But nuh-uh. Did that for a recent photo and was asked to reupload for regular screening instead. I don't see the point of this policy. If I do reupload, that's just adding back to the giant queue a photo that has already been screened and found to otherwise be fine. Why can't there just be an option in these scenarios that says something like, "pick one of these photos to keep and the other will be deleted"? Genuinely want to know.

If a wrong or missing category is the only problem, the image will not be rejected just for that reason. The screener will correct it for you.

A similar photo (in queue or already database) doesn't receive any further screening, it just get rejected for that only reason.

But what I'm saying is the issue can be resolved without further screening by simply deleting the similar photo in question. But for some reason, that's not allowed apparently...

The admin team is already way too busy with screening appeals and dealing with cheaters etc etc. If they also have to keep track of deleted similar images or correcting info (often requested in appeals), the workload will only increase. So instead, just make sure you don't have any similars in queue or database, then the situation you are describing is not even existent in the first place.

So.. I'm a little confused about a reject I recently received. The photo ID is: 12341039 according to the screener's comment it is "same sequence" I took the photo of the same helicopter in the morning and afternoon, taking advantage of the best possible light. The photo in the database: 10649075 and they are clearly at angles that are not exactly the same. Let's say a close up and front. And rejected in full side. I don't see any reason for the reject. Thanks!

Front and side same day are considered similar.

Well yes but as I said, doing what I was told and sending the photo that's already been screened back into the screening queue doesn't seem very helpful to the screening team's workload either. That's why I asked about a potential solution in my initial post - make the uploaders decide just after screening (if "similar" is the only thing wrong) which of the similar photos they want to keep while the other will automatically be deleted. No extra work required on the part of the screening and admin teams.

Doesn't even have to be same day either. The photos could be years apart, but if it's the same registration/livery combo and a similar enough angle (regardless of location), that also counts as too similar from my experience.
