  • My spotting vehicle...

    ...ah yeah...

And exactly ten seconds after taking the above photo, I shot this from the same spot. The beach really isn't all that bad at LAX!

Still trying to find new angles at LAX...I should get paid for all this work...

That is quite the ride there Clovis. You're missing the tassles on the handle bars

What is everyone's "ride" for spotting.

I like the idea of being able to ride a bike to spot.

Myself, I use my Ford Ranger 4X4

Nice mount Clovis, back in 1998 and 1999 I rented one, similar frame layout, to roam around BFI and SEA.
Otherwise, whenever bikes are avialable for rents around airports, I usually grab one, as I also did in PEK last year.

Since I live near SFO I walk there. It takes me about 15 min. to get there, its also good exercise. Then for the KSJC I take the 6:00a.m. train from Millbrae to Santa Clara and then the bus from the train station to terminal C(it takes about 1hr. to get there).

This was taken at about 7.30am one morning at MAN when shooting some landing traffic.

Well, most sane people wouldn't but I hate waiting for the bus. It takes me an hour to get to LAX by bike from my house.

                    Too many bikes.

Got to go with the American metal. Of course the 20 mpg or less is hurtin' me.

I'll have to have my wife take a pic of me standing on top of my van like a fool at KMKE.

Me and Adam stood on the trunk of the Bonneville at BWI.

But some redneck on a bike cursed us out.

I've never heard someone insert some many "F**K you" s in a sentence.

You are lucky that he didn't throw his beer bottle or spit cup at you

I have biked close to an hour and walked 12 miles round trip to go spotting.

I do all my LHR photography by bike, mine looks like Wietse's but a red and black . Takes 10-15 to get there from home, or 30 mins if they are using 09L, having the bike is perfect since I never any parking problems and I can hit those 'secret spots' that only the locals know about .

I commend you Clovis for riding for an hour in the heat of LAX .
