  • How to get the screeners on your side, lesson 1

    From picture:

JetPhotos.com is the biggest database of aviation photographs with over 5 million screened photos online!

Remarks: REJECT!!!! In my haste I forgot to crop and JP edited version (bar added) looks like crap anyway. Sorry for your troubles.

How could this be accepted. I guess queue was to full and screeners went on auto-accept.
Lets have some laughs for a few days and then I'll upload the correct picture.

And the email that accompanied it:

How the hell could the image below get accepted and other rejected.
Please take a look at it and remove it from the database. Or should I upload
    the correct image?

Verry strange to see crap like this pass the screening process, while others
that are good are rejected for bad reasons.

OK, so we made a mistake in accepting the picture, in 30,000 uploads per month it's going to happen with the screening process we have here, but what a way to go about pointing it out.
I guess some people think its going to help their future uploads by trying to be smart.

Here are some more classic email excerpts:
By the way, You have overwent yourself. Rejected
14/15 pretty good photos of my yesterday upload. I am very very upset. And I
will not apeal, You don't want them, no problem, I will not beg for
acceptance. If you are going to be as demanding as airliners.net, you cut
off nice but not so technically perfect, sometimes unique pictures you could
    have.
Anyway, forget my contribution for some longer time, if not forever. I have
to learn to take better pictures, but then I will choose the database.

    Hi!
please accept my photo of ********* (*******) :Reason(s) For Rejection: - Too Much JPEG Compression

i like this aircraft and i want have it in jetphotos.net
    thanks

Above mail sent 12 times in one morning !!!!

    Dear JetPhotos.Net Screening Team,

It's the last time that I send pix on your site.
Each time my pix are rejected.
The reasons are really stupids !!

    Do your sreeners
know something about photo?.....Let me tell you. THE BIG MISTAKE all newbie
do when taking a camera for the first time is.....? Is......? To center the
subject in the frame...The first thing that a photo-club or school learn you
before everything is "please, do not center subject in the frame....." This
is the most common mistake that allow you to see if a guy know a little bit
about taking picture.....An aicraft as a mouvement. When you learn how to
take picture after leaning that the worst thing is to center the subject,
you learn that when there's a movement you must let more space in the
direction of the movement or where the subject is looking....

Well I dont want to explain you all about photo, Somme good books for
newbies or beginners do that better than I...Perhaps "Using a camera for
    dummies" or something like that....?

I take time to upload, doing my best to collect registration and trying to
find correct type of aircraft...I've waste my time. I do that TO HELP YOU
BUILDING YOUR SITE. IT IS NOT AN HONNOR TO HAVE MY PICTURE ON YOUR SITE. You
should be happy that photographer take time to upload for you.....If wee
waste our time because of so silly rejection, the only thing you'll win is
that I'll waste may time uploading on Airliners or Planepictures.net
etc....Avoiding your site. Who do you think you are to preoceed as you do?

I've uploaded to help you. Your rejection reason are so stupid that I 've no
    words....

    You should think about that.

But OK... I see that you personaly
don't linke inforamative pictures so I'll keep that in mind when uploading
    pictures next time.

    Give me a break.............
I've looked at it on 3 different monitors now............

Your site is getting almost as bad as A.net..........
Especially with all the fricking pop-up ads.................!!!!
    What an annoyance..........

You really need a sense of humour here sometimes

HAHA , nice classic and " friendly" emails you received there. As for me, If my shots get rejected , I just keep trying ..... there is this saying " Never give up". For those who are pretty demoralized, don't be. Up till now, I still have a lot of rejects despite having quite a bit of photos inside this data. Just keep working with it.

    Cheers

The sad thing is though, all of those emails have been sent to us within the last 10 days!!

Welcome to a small insight into the world of being a screener.

                    Excellent reading material.

I am sure some of these people blame their equipment too.

I do agree with the rant about centering aircraft in the frame. It should not be required, based on the aesthetics of photography used in the real world. Any photographer worth publishing will tell you NOT to center your main subject. I don't see why it's a harm here to do some creative framing and use of space. If the policy were changed you'd see some interesting and terriffic new shots. Just my opinion. I know it's not worth much.
