Megapixels

Hi all-

I am very interested in the 300D...very interested indeed. Is part of the reason the images are so sharp because of its 6.3megapixel rating? Right now I'm using an Olympus C-730uz. Very happy w/ it except for slow autofocus and all pics even under bright light come out unsharpened & noisy. Ny 730 is a 3-somethin megapixel I think.

I'm still learning when it comes to photography, so am I right in guessing that the reason all the 300D shots I've seen are crystal clear & sharp because of the very high megapixel rating?

Not really. In DSLR's quality comes from the sensor. Check out Colvis' photos, they are probably of higher quality than many 300D photos out there and he has a D30, which only has 3.2 megapixels. A lot of it does come down to the photographer as well. The 6 megapixels is nice to have, but when uploading to the internet, the size of the original really doesn't matter as much.

How do you determine the good sensor from ok sensor?

Pretty much any DSLR from Canon or Nikon or other top brands like that are gonna have a high quality sensor.

OK so I was comparing the 10D & 300D. The 300D has a 6.3mgp CMOS sensor, & the 10D has a 6.3 MP CMOS sensor. Do you know what the 'MP' on the 10D's sensor is?

The 10D and the 300D use the same sensor.

The difference between them is that the 10D has a lot of features that the 300D doesnt, most aviation photographers dont need all those features though.

Get the 300D, I have both but there is very little that the 10D does that the 300D can't do as far as aviation photography goes.

How about more fast paced stuff such as airshow photography? I heard the 300D is a really under performer with this type of photography whereas the 10D has no problems.

I have three friends with 300Ds, One was there for the flying display at Wigram Classics.

While they aren't the best in Qality, he had only had it for a short time.
