  • Binoculars

Hey, I was wondering if anyone uses binoculars when spotting just to see registration, I would use them for close up views of airplanes, which fly about 3,000 over my head! And to get a closer view of the canarsie approach from my window. Anyone help me with what I should look for when buying a decent pair of binoculars!

I recently recieved a pair of binoculars that I had won off of ebay, Yesterday actually, so I haven't got to try them out at the local airport. But I know that the first number in the 2 when buying binoculars is the magnification. In my case they were 10-30x zoom binoculars so i can be as far out as 10x and as close as 30x. The second number was like the mm i believe of the lense, something to do with the depth of field, I believe. Someone could probably help you out better with that part, but I was told that a bit higher of a number like 60 is good. SO my binoculars are 10-30x60.

Just my input, like I said I never got to try them at the airport yet, but I am looking forward to getting to.

          I hope I helped a bit.

I those that use them don't invest in them greatly because the camera is more important to them. I use some cheap Tasco binocs, and just carry them to have available.

But... if you really want some, Canon makes ones with IS. Some more expensive models have zoom.

Honestly, I don't think it'd be worth it. But that's just me. Go for the camera.

I have an old Hunter 50X50 with a field of 11 degrees...whatever that means. You can tell this thing is ancient because pretty much everything is made with metal except the lens Personally, I would spend money on photo equipment.
