    Dear All

I guess they fly at weekends from Tuscon and Sky Harbour, has are'nt they ANG.
Any advice would be very much welcomed, are there any spotters sites for these areas.

    Cheers

I have not been in contact with Phoenix Sky Harbour lately but when I e-mailed them in Late Dec. they told me I could take pics from the top of any of the terminal Parking structures. If you want to you could go to there web site and e-mail them. If they e-mail you back with a yes answer make sure you print a copy out so if you do get hassled by cops you can take that out and say, " Well sure I got permission from the Airport right here."

Here are some sites to visit: www.visitingphx.com,www.cactuswings.com

Definitely check out cactuswings.com. For Sky Harbor, I recommend level 4 in the terminal 3 parking garage and level 6 terminal 4 parking.

By next month, the weather will not be so hot either.

            Hey Ian-

cactuswings and visitingphx are both excellent websites to get spotting info from. I probably have some answers if you have any more questions, as I live in the Phoenix area. Depending on what day you'll be at PHX, I might be able to meet you there & show you around if you'd like.

FYI- if you like business jets/smaller GA aircraft, Scottsdale Airpark (around 10mi N of Sky Harbor) gets most of the corporate jets coming into Phoenix. Also, it's going to be hot. Very hot, so bring lots of water.

Thanks for the offer Justin,i will let you know.My first love is military aircraft so i really would like to see the KC-135's at Phoenix and then would really love to get to Luke AFB.
Do you know of any places to go to around there?
I will be getting into Phoenix on a Friday afternoon, but it says on the Luke website that they usually fly upto 23.00 on a weeknight, even Friday,is that right?
I would also like to go to Tuscon to see the ANG there but don't think i will have enough time, plus the girlfiend is coming along so i'm pretty sure she does'nt want to spend that long at those places.
But i really want to get to Luke though.

                Hey Ian-
Our KC-135s fly on weekends, I believe- someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but they're nice to see. Some still have the older original engines on them!

Not sure if I'd be able to make it out to Luke w/ you, but if I'm able to persuade my parents I can definately make it down to Sky Harbor, keyword being IF (my parents are more flexible on weekends). What do you mean as far as 'places to go'? I'm not sure what times Luke flies up until- I've only been down there a few times when I was younger- it's a long drive for us since we live on the other side of the valley.

If you really like military aircraft, I suggest you definately go down to Tucson. You might even be able to see more than @ Luke (I wouldn't know though). I've been down to Tucson quite a few times, and there's a very large outdoor/indoor museum/graveyard called Pima Air & Space Museum. They have TONS of warbirds- fighter jets, cargo/transport, helicopters, SR-71, etc., and also have a good chunk of the Presidential Fleet including a VC-137, VC-118, VC-40, and the C-121 Columbine. Last time I was down there, the VC-118 Liftmaster (used by Kennedy & Johnson) was open & you could walk through & take pics @ will. I have some posted on JP.net on the last pages of my photos if you want to take a look. http://www.pimaair.org/pasmhome.shtml is the website for PASM (the museum is better than the website makes it look- in fact, it's more of a walkthrough graveyard w/ preserved a/c than a museum). Davis Monthan AFB is also right accross the street. They get a lot of fighter jet traffic including A-10 Warthogs. PASM offers coach bus tours of the AMARC facility & Davis Monthan graveyards.

OK- whew- that was a lot of info. If you have any more questions please let me know- if you want more info on PASM's aircraft I can get you that too. I hope I've given you a decent idea of what PHX & Tucson is like.
