Hi,
I use the EOS 300D and can say that I really love this camera, IMHO theres no going past the 300D. people will say "you get what you pay for", but I disagree in this case. For the money you pay (very low) you still get a great camera, high quality imaging and it really does out-do what you would expect from it.
Now people will bag it out about the plastic body, BUT the thing is, who cares, provided you look after it and don't treat it like crap then it should be fine, you won't have any problems. If you plan to be rough with it or
bang it around then go for something with a stronger body by all means. But like I said if you plan to treat it with care and look after it then you'll be fine.
Not sure if you have checked out the specs on it yet but here you go, check this site out:
Anyway, I hope I have been of some help. I can only speak high of the 300D as I've never had any problems with mine and it gives me great results, I love it.
Regards Matt

the 300d is the digital version of the rebel... 300d aka digital rebel.
anyway to answer your question..
a camera is only as good as the person behind the viewfinder. having gd equipment doesnt make u a good photographer, sure it may aid your cause, but doesnt turn u into a pro. alot of pple think that by having a DSLR u automatically become a good photographer.

The 300D/Rebel/Kiss is a fine tool for taking photos of civil airliners and will reward you with very high quality photos. Again, it's what's behind the viewfinder that counts, and how good you are at post-processing too, and to some extent what glass you've got attached.
I'm yet to be convinced by it's ability to be a useful tool for taking fast moving stuff like military jets at airshows. I've hit the limits a few times - ie the small buffer, AI servo only officially full time with the crappy ISO400 sports mode etc. Mind you i'm not an airshow supremo.
However, a majority of the time I wouldn't miss the extra features the 10D has.
Would i buy one again? Probably not. I intend on replacing it when the new/next/upgraded model line appears, as for me it doesn't quite offer everything that i want.

I agree with James completely, I mostly miss AI-servo and a bigger buffer, but I don't miss them too often. I too will probably upgrade to the 10D mk2, but I don't regret buying this camera. It has served me very well.
IMHO the desicion between the 300D and the D70 should be made on the Lenses that you might want to buy in the future. If you want canon lenses, buy the 300D, if you want nikon, buy the D70
