  • Im Headed to ATL!

I bought my plane tickets lastnight during AirTran's $49 sale to Atlanta. With all the noise about the Rennaisance hotel, I couldn't take it any longer! I'll be heading up there September 13th through the 15th with my girlfriend. We'll be leaving MCO on a B717 and got a flight back on one of the 737-700's.

Wow....I haven't flown AirTran in about 3 years. How are they for inflight/edparting/arriving picture taking? Is it hit or miss like everything else?

I hope the weather holds up during my time at in Atlanta. I will have to get another memory card for this trip no doubt.

Rich, we'll be expecting a full report. And lots of photos for us to drool over before next summer's meetup.

No doubt about it. I can't compete with the quality/skill of most of the spotters around here, but we'll see what I can do with the ol' 300D and 400mm of zoom.

I just reserved my room tonight, I was a little worried for a bit that there were no rooms left. A couple of sites listed nothing available.....but I reserved an airport view "higher up" in time.

This is going to be the longest 4 weeks...... :P

Something rather interesting about the Renaissance...

It was built on the site of the old Atlanta Airport, which closed in 1980. The only things that remain is the main parking lot behind the Renaissance (which used to be used presumably for long-term parking), and a grey stripe in the parking lot to the front and off to the right... It's the footprint of the former Terminal A.
