                    Personally I would say still go for the D30 or D60. I don't know the circumstances you're buying in but your photos will be much better through using a DSLR. A non-DSLR digi, no matter how good cannot match a DSLR.

                      That is stretching it a bit....maybe if all you want are pictures of airplanes.... There are non - DSLR cameras that can exceed the output/quality of most consumer/prosumer level dslr cameras. Not consumer level cameras as in his case, but there are a few. A simple review of some photography forums will show you a few examples.

                        yah i still want a DSLR though... out of maybe 200 pics Ive taken with 2 cameras... Ive only gotten this one accepted.
