We've all had brushes with the law while photographing at airpports. Share your interesting stories with the jp.net visitors. Whether you've been arrested or have just got asked to leave by the police, share them all. Ohh this should be interesting!
Here are a few occasions I remember, never really had a problem with the police though:
Once at ZRH when I was searching for a new spot I lost myself in a restricted area and the police escorted me to another spot.
Then at LAS I was shooting from Sunset Rd., standing on top of a van. Obviously some Southwest pilots noticed me and the police arrived minutes later to check my ID and tell me its no problem to stay as long as I wouldn't get closer to the fence.
At AMS when I went away from an official spotting area at RW24 to search for new angles the Dutch police pulled over and told me very polite and friendly to move over to the other spotters. We had a nice chat and they even informed me about a Phuket Air 747 I should not miss.
At LAX they sent me away from a parking garage near the InNout Burger and told me not to go there again otherwise I could get arrested.
Coming into mind is this horrible story at STL on July 4th 2001 during which the afternoon was ruined and which ended at Clayton short term detention center, altogether wrecking my Independance Day.

I was on top of the parking garage at CVG when a cop pulled up and took my ID. Was very cool about it and told me I didn't have to leave as it was public property apparently.
Had some young cops pulling up to me and I saw that they were eagerly looking for something I did wrong. So they checked the ID of my girlfriend and me and found out that our identification cards were not valid anymore. After explaining to them that my girlfriend already requested a new one and I will do so shortly they told us to come along and show them when we get them. Otherwise they would go nasty. I tried to explain to him that I have a valid pass at home he didn't want to hear that and sticked to it.
Well, eventually I went to the police station with my pass some weeks after that but after not being able to find anybody I left a message that we have been there. Now he can stick his administrative offense right up his a**!
Funny thing: if I wouldn't have had my identification card with me he still wouldn't know it as in Germany you are not forced to carry one with you all the time! Just one of those overmotivated cops I think. Normally they don't care for anything here.
They even confiscated an air band scanner from one of the other spotters and made a report about him!
