  • Canon EF 28-300L

I have just searched the database for pictures taken with this lens but did not manage to find any.

Does anyone know a member who uses one as I would like to see what it can do before I finally mortgage the house to buy one??

    Thanks

If this violates any linking rules please don't kill me . But I knew I have seen some on the dark site, here is a member, for example, who uses it frequently (he typed in the lens used on every shot):

Well, Jid uses a 35-350L which is the father of the 28-300L

Where the heck does someone get a 35-350 in the states? I've been looking for one just to check on the price for when I save some cash.

The 35-350L is now out of production and was replaced by the 28-300L, maybe some grey-importer like B&H or Adorama may have some of them.

Oh the cost of the 35-350L was around $2100 I think.

Looking at the price of the 28-300L made my balls hurt.

We use a few of the 28-300L's in production, and personal use. While not the perfect lens quality-wise, for their relatively inexpensive cost (that price does not make everyone's balls ache ) it is an acceptable alternative to having to carry many lenses around, depending on your reason for it's purchase.

Mine only ache when I see prices here are $1000 to $1500 more than those in US shops.

Its like getting the new $1300 24-105L and a bit less than the $1500 100-400L in the same compact white package

Not exactly but similar and in one package, for a flight should be very nice, you have wide at 28mm and tele at 300mm, I doubt you need 400mm during a flight.

Thanks for the link and having looked at a few relevant shots I have to say I am not convinced although I can not view these at full screen.. Does any one elase have a comment on this lens?

Thanks to all who responeded so far.

The advantage of this expensive lens is that you don't need to change lenses to get both wide and tele.

Maybe 300 is not big, but for some airports is enough.

You still see the odd 35-350mm about now and then:

Well, I haven't read too good a comment about it but here:

it performed not too bad. I can't say more .
