Tell me you are serious about this whole issue and don't try to put oil to the fire just to keep the discussions in other forums running or so.

Just in case you're serious: the photo was uploaded as hot, so it appeared in screening as soon as it was uploaded. The screener who was then screening, either voted to add or directly added it (can be both ways). If he only voted, the pic was waiting for another screener to vote. So far that's the usual screening procedure.

Let's assume, we add an expert for south american aviation, let's call him "Simplemente Volar" . How does this expert prevent the mentioned photo to be in the db? Remember it was uploaded as hot, the photographer wants a quick decision, the audience is waiting for news to come.

Scenario 1: all pics from south america have to pass this south american expert for data review before they are added to the db. Result: the queue for south american photos will be growing to a level never seen. I can live with it, can you?

Scenario 2: all pics from south america are screened as now, but once in the db, they will be reviewd by this south american expert. What would be the difference to now? Mistakes could still happen and correction would be the same as now -> no change at all.

And at the end of the day, we are humans and make mistakes, no matter what system we implement, period! We can now move on, or debate in length here and in other forums, keep the discussions alive and so on.

To put some evidence to my theory: most screeners are from Europe. Nevertheles, they (me included) accept wrong infos from European airlines. The only difference is, we simply correct them (Thanks AJ! ) and no European community starts going havoc for such a mistake.

OK, and now let's see the reactions on other forums over that post of mine

Many more typical examples. But some times I think that some do not come to give helpful input, but prefer to be "simple vocal".

Thanks for the explanation. I didn't know pictures could be added directly, I thought they needed votes (that's how it works in the site where I screen).
In the other forum the discussion/debate was stopped some time ago, don't worry

All is good. As was mentioned by Brian in his forst post, the world is still going around and this was all within the context of the hobby, not a personal issue.

About Simplementevolar, -off topic- I honestly invite any of you that wish to take part of the forum, even if not actively (due to the language barrier), at least to go through the pics since we have some amazing photographers there.

                cheers,

                Alberto

                • The 787 And Hot Uploads

                  Hi all,

Just a quick note on the 787. Boeing's new bendy-winged toy is scheduled to be making appearances in Europe over the next few days, and while we know what a special and significant occasion its first visit is for individual airports we must stress that we can't accept them as 'Hot'. The first visits of the A380 to individual airports weren't accepted as hot so in the interests of fairness the same must also apply to the 787. If you're lucky enough to catch this beautiful aircraft then please upload the images as normal, not Hot.

                  Cheers.

                  • Hey guys, I thought the Finnair A340-300 (OH-LQF) in what seems to be a new livery is infact just interm colours until the all new livery is unveiled on Finnairs new A330-300 (OH-LTU).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the current hot photo of Finnair's 'new' livery would be incorrect then?

                    Dave

You are correct that it's an interim livery. So the new should be dropped. Still an interim livery could be added as hot for a major airline.
I will put a thread up in the crew forum.

Well after much holding of the breath and waiting in anticipation, from the pictures I've seen today of the new livery, it's unchanged from the interm livery! So I guess Mikko was right in that it was indeed the new livery.

                            Dave,

Do you have a source with confirmation about this? Finnair stated it is an interim c/s.

                            • Sorry for the late reply, I was working all day.

Today was the release date of the new Finnair livery, and the aircraft was rolled out of the hanger at the ceremony today in Helsinki wearing the same colours as the 'interm' livery. All pictures and info (albeit in Finnish) can be found at flightforum.fi.

The only difference is the lack of the blue F's on the engines, which appear to be all white now. Since when has an interm livery featured less colour and details than the new livery replacing it... disappointing but ah well!

                              Dave

                              By the way, heres a confirmation link of how the new livery will look on each aircraft type within Finnair's fleet;
