    • Afternoon guys

I'm quite new to JP, so am still learning the ropes here.

I uploaded a photo last night of a newly-painted B734 that was all-white previously and was flying revenue flights in this drab scheme.
Safair repainted it in their colours and I added it as a hot photo, but asking the screeners if it was acceptable as 'HOT".

It got accepted without any fuss. Seeing as there are few all-white airliners flying around my area, I just want to know if a newly painted airliner, in normal colours, would qualify as hot if the airliners is in all-white/previous colours in the DB?

It only will be hot if an aircraft has a recent paint change which is not yet in our dbase. So for instance if an SAA A320 is painted all white for some reason only the first! uploaded shot of this will be hot. This is because fr24 wants the most recent picture displayed, including recent paint changes.

        Previous colors are not hot.

Excellent, thanks for the clarification Erwin. Apologies for having missed your visit to South Africa, but I see Tim, Morne and the others took good care of you.

Indeed they did. Had a great time there maybe when I will be back we can join up.

            • There's a photo from 2006 of a PC-12 in the DB, only showing the cockpit. It's also the only photo. Am I right in assuming that my recent photo of the actual aircraft from the outside, will not count as hot?

                • I've uploaded a photograph of VH-ZXS which has finally been repainted into REX (Regional Express Airlines) livery but now has the "newer" version which will be painted on all aircraft. Only difference is the engine cowling is blue and not white (seems to be based off the hybrid US Express/REX livery on VH-ZXF). Am I correct that going by brianw999's post, it wouldn't be a "hot" photo?

Yes, if it is a permanent change to the livery that is different from the previous, it is considered hot.

Only if they meet our current hot photo requirements. The fact that it’s from the Singapore Airshow is not in itself a reason for hot.

                        • Could I put a special livery as a hot photo? For example the Alaska Airlines Disney livery.

                          • If it is a new scheme and it is the first image of it then yes.

Special schemes are judged in the following ways...

                            1. New scheme AND new type to the airline = Hot for 48hrs.
                            2. New scheme on an existing fleet type = Hot for 48hrs.
...and then we go to types in standard scheme....
                            3. New type for airline = Hot for 48hrs.
                            4. New delivery of type already existing in the airline = Hot for first image only.

                            • A new special scheme for an airline (such as a Disney livery) will be valid as a hot image for 48 hours from the first image being accepted into the database. After the 48 hour limit we ask that any new images be uploaded normally.

                              • If the photo depicts damage to an aircraft, does it count as Hot?

I've had a photo of a Boeing 777 (9V-SQK) with burn damage rejected for 'Invalid Hot'. (uploaded on same day as incident)

But I see the OZ A333 at IST [13MAY18] being accepted as Hot too.
