• ONE POSSIBLE SOLUTION FOR A.NET?

Airliners.net has been under alot of critisism lately by not only myself but seemingly by many others!
A few other members here believe that this webpage is like a YMCA and Airliners.net is like a GOLD MEMBER GOLF RESORT!

BUT if A.NET wants to show that they hold the worlds best photographers only, then don't make it seem in reach for those of us who may not reach their standards! If every photo on their database was a high quality photo that most of us couldn't imagine taking then we wouldn't be frustrated that the don't accept our photos as much!

How many of you think that if A.NET updated their Database by removing those old not so high quality images, that still linger there, they could avoid atleast some of their critisism that they have been receiving lately???

ONE POSSIBLE SOLUTION FOR A.NET?

Gary, you have to be reasonable.

The Admin at Studio 54 is on record as stating that photographers can upload to his site, and their pictures will be there "forever".

Obviously the standards over there have gone up over time. They've already eliminated the dreadful very early shots in most cases...and it wouldn't shock me to see them go for the next tier...but, other than that they've painted themselves into a corner..(that presumably they're comfortable with.)

As it is, it would not surprise me to see photographers ask for their photos to be removed after they've determined they no longer make the cut - all they need is to have a bunch removed for them (without request)..that might cause a problem in some cases.

Yes, I agree the comparison between these two sites is premature...its not nearly as simple as greatness vs. mediocrity. I don't think that is accurate. A.net "Standards" are not "universal" standards. In any event, The "Bad Common" rule will fuel any competing database/website very well in the months ahead.

Having said that, the "your server/forums/screeners/photos suck" scattergun attack will accomplish nothing and only make you look jealous. You can't run his website. Its as simple as that. Be glad this one is here.

Personally I've heard enough about A.net here.
I don't like the site and thats why I don't waste my time writing threads about how they suck. What I write here is NOT going to change anything over THERE.

If they want to accept pictures from people who only can afford expensive cameras, fine. I'm not gonna go out and spend $1000.00 on a camera I don't want or need to please Johan. JetPhotos has filled this "hole" for the people who don't worry about making every picture perfect and who arent pro-photographers. Though there are plenty of them here.

Im just going to add that these sites are private. None of these sites are gov. backed or supported or affiliated with. When a individual sets up a website he/she can do whatever they want to do on it and impose their rules.
I think theres too much talk going about how bad a.net is... You dont like it, then dont go to it. I think we need to re-think for what reason we are taking pix or spotting. First and foremost it shouldnt be for Anet or JP or any othe site, it should be for yourself.

I am wondering why a discussion of what airliners.net should and shouldn't do is appearing on jetphotos.net myself.

Why not support this site rather than pull it down by using it as a conduit to run down another site?

Andy, By saying my only posts are about A.NET, shows that you only have interest in those posts, because I have different posts, that were there before I wrote this message!
Which confirms my point, everyone is still interested in the A.NET topic but wont admit it!

Gary,

You should live your advice before you start dispensing it. Perhaps what you are really trying to say is

"Do as I say, but not as I do"

OK, so you have other posts. Not 100% of your posts are about A.net. Maybe 90%, or 80%, or 70%. And? I'm not sure of your point. And talking about points. To quote:

quote
Which confirms my point, everyone is still interested in the A.NET topic but wont admit it!
Hmmm, was that the point of your post? Can't seem to find that one in the starting post to this thread. I'll go look again.

Like I said, and I think everyone feels this. A.net bashing and J.net vs. A.net is getting old, worn out, and really does nothing for this site. Just some people whining. Again, I repeat it, why don't you just get on with uploading photos here, you've found a home, and yet you keep looking and thinking across the electronic canyon to the other site.

Enough time spent on this topic, I shall repsond no more, no doubt you will want the last word, and I shall let you have it. I have better things to do and thankfully this is not something that always plays on my mind.

Andy,
Again you weren't reading OTHER posts before saying something! If you read anything else besides 'your beloved site' postings you would see that I have already explained myself fully on the topic of A.NET!!! Yes I will have the last word only because the note you left on is not a good one! By the way speaking of "homes", why are you intruding in ours!

Fine Polishair42! It is just real annoying when I take twenty minutes to write a new post, about how my A.NET opinions were taken to seriously and agree to stop them, only to have someone write another comment directed towards me about the subject. And what is even worse is it is coming from someone who is complaining about me continuing topic when I already had stopped it about 12 hrs earlier. Bad timing for his comments that's all!

As for the "home" topic, if he says my home is here(not airliners.net) then I can say in my own words that A.NET is his home!

Why can't everyone just concentrate on THIS site, and leave the OTHER to it's thing. Like others in this forum have already said, enjoy JetPhotos.com. Press on with life! Comments?

Right on. Jet Photos is the site I have always looked for. Now I can have fun here, upload my shots, and enjoy. I've spent countless hours TRYING to make my shots perfect for get on A.net but have not had one accepted. This website I believe is better, this is were you people you cannot afford to spend thousands of dollars on cameras, etc. A.net has evolved into something that they shouldn't of set there sights on. Oh well. Forever JETPHOTOS BABY.

People,
As from what I have heard and seen the competition from a.net and JP.net is fierce. But consider this statement : "we are not here to compete into who can carry the most expensive camera or who can take the best photographs, but we are here because we all love aviation", If you cant take it then maybe you should go somewhere else.
