The Fuji FinePix 3800 seems to have the best bang for the buck in the under $500 range. I just bought mine for $402.76 (after taxes) @ BJ's, and in just playing around with it today, I am very impressed with the picture quality. I'm going to try to do some shooting @ ATL after work tomorrow and Saturday, weather permitting (Atlanta's weather in the summer is unpredictable at times).

And I press the button when the nose was showing in the LCD!

You have heard of the technique called "Panning"?
Also, that shot is way underexposed.
