I do it gratuitously, and if anybody has any moral problems with it they probably need to have their rectum inspected for FOD.

          She's Chimping!!!

She insisted that she was just checking the histogram, but I know she was chimping...

for those that don't know, chimping is peeking at your images in the middle of a shoot. in some circles it's sort of frowned upon, but everyone does it

I may check to see what I shot, but making the noises?? Only for something special or when you want to rub someone's nose in it when their battery died! (joking - if you do that to them, they're gonna do it to you)

There's a few people I see around when taking pictures that make various noises and wacky statements, it's rather entertaining. "Ohh! oHh! OOH! AHHH! AIIIIEEEEEEEEE!!! YEAH BABY! YEAH! WHO'S THE GUVNNAH??! TAKE IT!!", it's like a bad porn out there.

I've been watching out for the "stealth chimp" as well, it seems popular. I do it in the 2 second preview the camera gives once in a while to make sure the subject is all there. While memory isn't much of an issue now, I'd rather not spend the time downloading RAW+Large Fine JPG files for bad images.

With animals, landscape, and macro stuff...I chimp all the time.

IIRC, it was Mr. Medic1 up there that first introduced the term "chimping" to me.

I don't see what the big deal is here. People look at their shots in the LCD, so what?

It's just funny. If you don't get it, don't worry about it.

Hell yeah I do it. If it's not enough to make me "oooh and ahhh" then it gets deleted.

Oh but Airbus_A320, its so much more than looking at the lcd!

Its about the expression, the body language, and those times when you catch wunala dreaming in perfect light in full frame and just let your primal instinct take over.

Do not degrade the 'art' of chimping by defining it as a quick check - take your time and do it properly
