  • NEW Nikon DSLR coming

Seems like D70 meets D200. Probably a very interesting offer for Nikonians.

Nikon Japan has today started a teaser campaign promoting a new compact 10.2 megapixel digital SLR which will be announced on August 9th, we can only guess that this would be the natural successor to the D70/D70s. The teaser gives away few details other than the fact that the camera will have 10.2 megapixels (just in case you were thinking of buying a Sony Alpha). If any other significant details come out over the next 20 days we'll cover them. UPDATE: An English version has now been added to the Nikon Imaging Global website, details inside.

...what timing from Nikon, I'm due to go and pick up my new D200 tomorrow, the've also ordered me an 80-400 VR lens to look at....think I'll just walk away with the lens and wait to see this new box of tricks?!!

    regards...Paul.

I like the looks of this new Nikon DSLR, seeing as it is geared towards photo enthusiasts, it should be a decent price, and also my next body...

I wonder how this Nikon D80 will perform compared to Canon 30D.

What's else is new about this D80 ?

looks like a phtoshopped D50 to me. SD cards - only - I doubt it. Or, if true I am happy I have a D200. WOuld suck to replace 6GB of CF Cards

I don't think it's going to have SD, as the camera is aimed at people who want to replace their D70/D70s but don't want/cant afford the D200.

I expected it would be called D80 before I even saw those photos. It just comes in line like the N65/70/80 line did for 35mm. Hopefully this one will have an ISO that will drop to 50 or 100.
