  • My First Ever Contrail Shot!

    well...the first ever to be accepted onto a photo database, that is
    [photoid=120357]

    Of course it was rejected as were a couple others from a.net because I dont have a 400mm or bigger lens. that's one reason I like this site!

    This was shot with the maximum zoom my lens can provide. Luckily, the weather was fairly clear last saturday and those bright new Southwest colors really stand out! With some help from the a.net forum I was able to figure out that it's probably 2706, if you draw a line from IND to LAX it crosses MCI. 2706 would leave IND at approx 18:35, and it is about 450 miles straight line to kansas city, so by 19:42 when this was taken it could very easily be there. Then in September I can look up on the DOT website that flight # and actually get the tail #.

    It may not be as good as some of the contrail shots I've seen but for my equipment I'm proud of it!

      I think if I ever did want to upgrade I'd go for the 10D first.
