  • MAN southside access?

    Hey.
Is runway 24L at manchester still accessable?
I am looking to go to the triangle (I know that the threshold is still ok) and park near there on that small coutry lane, but last time I went there was a fence that I had to climb to get in.

Does anyone know what the situation is?

You can still get in, you will just have to park 50 yards down the road as there is a gate there now where you used to be able to park, and if you park any closer you will be blocking the drive of that house that is there.

Weather looks a bit cak at Manc for the next few days though in case you havent checked.

I prefer Moss Lane myself before 3pm.

Hi there, went last week. You can drive up to the gate and park on the verge on your right, just past the entrance to the buildings on your right, that way if anyone needs to pass you there will be enough room (even though its a dead end). or as stated you could park further down the lane on the grassy verges.

If you feel atheltic enough you could vault the gate on your left to get access to southside, or like me take the gentle walk.
        Have fun

Well, I'm hoping that the weather will just be cold and cloudy and not too much of a problem.

What exactly is the house there? It has a couple of cars infront normally, but there are strict no-parking signs infront.

I'll report back tomorrow afternoon if the weather is ok and let you all know.
          Cheers

The issue is that the farmer/property owner does not like people parking out front and has put large car damaging rocks and stakes in the way. There is a grass verge just before you get to the house where we tend to park now. It can fit about 5 cars in with still enough space to let traffic by to get to the farm. I wouldn't park near the gate as it's rumoured that phonecalls are made to the boys in blue, who tend to ask you to move your car.

PS. The forecast is very poor...if mist and fog are about i've known them not to use 24L, so you could be in for a disappointing session.

well, after popping my head out the window this norning, I've dicided to give it a miss for now, maybe tomorrow. . . . .
We could really do with some sunshine to burn up some of this mist - I've not seen the sun for about 2 weeks now

It wouldn't surpise me if the guy that lives in that house changes the signs to something very similar in your avatar Burrd if we start parking any nearer

                      Cheers,
