Have been using 3rd party battery from 7dayshop.com for over 6 months in my battery grip for 350D, cost me £9.99, never had any problems with it at all.

I bought a cheapo 'generic' spare for my D70 from eBay. The first one stopped holding a charge after a couple of weeks, but was replaced without any problems. The replacement works fine. The performance is no different to the Nikon original.

I have 2 Nikon and one "Whoknows" for my D70 and I rotate them. So far none of them has let me down, with no difference in performance. Go cheap, you know it makes sense

Remember , you are only paying for the name !

Take a pair of shoes for $15 , whack a Nike label on it and they're worth $200 all of a sudden. Same with Generic Batts.

My Generic Batts are 1450AMH compared to Canon's Genuine 1100AMH had no problems at all.

I've found the generic batteries to be less tolerant to very cold(-20C or bellow) temperatures. Not a real problem though, I regularly get 2000+ shots out of two batteries on the 30D. Even with long exposures in cold temperatures.

No offence Olli....at -20C nevermind the camera, I would be frozen solid!!!

I've used 3rd party batteries for a couple of years on both my 20d and older 300d. They've been better than Canon's own offering at a fraction of the price. I was sceptical at first about using them, but once they proved themselves i went and bought more.

Really sound promising to read the positive comments myself.
I already have one of those I posted for Bruno, and I might just get one more for myself again.

Got a couple of generic makes off ebay for my 350d. Cost me about £6. If anything they last longer than Canons own offerings. Cant go wrong for that sort of pocket money.

As a couple of people have said try 7dayshop.com. I always use them for batteries, film etc... They are good value for money, the batteries that I use are £1.99 each from them, if I went to my local photography shop then they are £12.99 for exactly the same battery.

                        Cheers, Steve
