While checking the weather network the other day there was a trivia item on the highest (or I guess you could call it the lowest) ever recorded windchill in Canada.

The record was set in Pelly Bay, Nunavut in 1975 at a staggering -92 C. The air temperature without the windchill was a balmy -51 C.

Tonight in Toronto its a reasonable -16 with a -24 windchill, but I did have to chuckle about reading in the papers about my former home the UK. With a grand total of three quarters of an inch of snow, a rail company cancelled all of its train services and then a spokesman used the excuse of "extreme weather conditions" !
We don't even shovel our drives here with three quarters of an inch !! LOL

    Anyway, plug time

Now I have to make me another coffee and I just felt a bit warmed up from the train ride to work at -4°C and light snow grizzle.

True, wind chill can be very bad, and it is quite odd that people here kinda ignore completely(I'm still wondering why...).

Olli, it looks cool where you live, I want to visit there! I love snow!

Whats all this about anti-shake this and that. Me and my £130 75-300, with autofocus as its most advanced feature, do very well thank you! Anything else is for photographers who have to sit down to wee

As for the cold comment amazingly thats very true for the Imperial Hill location too. The wind just cuts you down on that hill its 10-20 degrees cooler on the hill then the rest of the area. Course its nothing like the pic posted of the ice.

Cold days? How many days a year with -20 C or bellow? And even -20 C isn't THAT cold. -25 C with high humidity is my borderline for "cold". If you're feeling cold with -20 C or warmer temperatures, it has all to do with your inadequate clothing.

Never used IS - OS - VS either but it does look like Imperial Hill is the place to go to practice your panning shots.

    [ISO 200 - F8 - 1/50]
Although inbound to the North is also good

    [ISO 200 - F8 - 1/60]

But don't try it after a few beers!

Mostly user error when panning with VR looks worse then without.
