  • Help with lens

    Hi!

I recently purchased a Canon 300D Rebel and now I'm searching for a good lens for this camera. It should have up to 300mm and should be good for plane spotting. Can anybody recommand something, which is not too expensive?

    Thanks!

well... I would go for the :
    - Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/s...&cat=27&page=2

A lot of us started with this lense or the 75-300 USM. It's cheap and even if it can be soft at 300mm it's the best you would get for the price...
Now you may look at Sigma too but I have no advice there...

    Cheers
    Alex

I'd have to agree with Alex here. The 70-300mm IS lens(note: NOT the 75-300 IS which is older version) is great as a first telephoto lens.

-It has decent optical quality, not L-glass, but for it's price, very good.
-IS, a really good thing when photographing aircraft.
      -Not too expensive.

I started off with the Sigma 70-300 APO Macro Lens, in good weather I couldn't fault it. The price makes it a cracking starter lens. As already stated, if you have the cash try an IS lens.
