    Can anyone give some advice on backlit rejections. I had this pic rejected for backlit:

    I understand the sun is behind the aircraft and to the right. On my screen I can see most of the details of the aircraft.

    Can anyone please explain criteria for backlit rejections? Or was I just in the wrong location in relation to the sun?

    Cheers Murt

    Murt,

    The picture is backlit. The AVP is like that morning/mid-afternoon so try and avoid it. I think the majour problems with your should is even though the detail is there the shot is just far too backlit - The nose is also blown out. If your at MAN again try these sort of angles and the Lufthansa ones around 2pm+ onwards;

    They seem to be the only decent shots you can get around the morning-noon while there on 06's unless your on Southside.

    Keep trying!

      Cheers Sam, looks like I gonna have to avoid AVP in the morning until summer!!

      I was under the impression, as long as you could still see details on the aircraft it would have been ok, that explains my recent batch of rejections then...all backlit.

      thanks

        The AVP can be a right pain sometimes, specially in the summer when the light starts getting better in the evening and then they change to runway 24L ops, depending what the wind direction is...

          Bascially just make sure the sun is shining on the side of the plane of which you are taking the pic then you will be fine.

            I thought the same way, I know I can't shoot from noon on at KSPM during the winter months and even later summer evenings. But when you can still clearly see the details from a high afternoon light seems should make it, IMO.

              The F-16 would be considered as "frontlit" and be acceptable.
