A friend of mine was in Zurich last week and tried a shot with his mobile phone. He thought it may have a chance so he uploaded it and it got on! Is this the first mobile phone shot on JP?
Like Paul said in his remark, just shows how mobile camera phone technology is improving.
However that's not to say that you can all start taking photos with your camera phones and start uploading them from now on
Dale
Don't worry, Dale, that was definitely a one off! I didn't really expect it to be accepted, but when I opened the image in CS2 and did a few tweaks I thought it might just stand a chance. I must admit, I never thought I'd see the day a camera on a mobile phone could produce an image quite like that. This shot was also taken on the K800i. Quite remarkable really!
My 30D is, at least for the moment, still Camera No. 1. The phone doesn't have quite the same satisfying shutter sound, plus it doesn't take Canon EF mount lenses!
There are some very good camera phones out there, infact my currant mobile phone camera has more megapixels than my first digital camera. Ive taken photos on my mobile that look better than ones taken on my d50.
Congrats! This proves that you can make good photos without a DSLR and "L Glass." Any digicam and some PS talent with an eye for composition can be successful.
I've got a K800i and took a couple of wing shots (whilst it was in aircraft mode obviously) and although it was ok, the results were way too noisy and compressed to be uploadable.
I'll be keeping to my 20D....although I did manage to sneak a shot onto jp the otherday using my Ixus 55 p&s.
Ive got a Samsung D900 and thats got a 3.2 megapixel camera. Ive not tired to take any aeroplane photos with it yet though.
It just makes me smile as my first digital camera was only 1.4 megapiels.
Lol, no....screeners generally don't screen their own photos. If I come across one of my photos in the queue whilst screening I will skip it.
Anyways, I'd prefer it that my photos go through the same screening process as anyone else as it keeps me on my toes, and i'll be honest that when editing my own photos sometimes i miss the odd dust spot and the other screeners will generally catch this, so in the long run it helps me develop my skills.
