    A private plane crashed south of Boston last night killing a prominent Allentown, PA attorney and his dentist wife, and the pilot. Apparently, the only photo around of the plane was one I took last year:

    I'm sad to report this a/c crashed on 2/2/07 just south of Boston. All 3 passengers on board died. The deceased included a prominent Allentown, PA lawyer, his dentist wife, and the pilot. Pray for their families. I was contacted by the state trooper who operated the command post at the crash site. He thanked me for the use of this photo...it had given them good details to use in the investigation and identification.. N944CA. Socata TBM-700. I just got an email from the trooper who ran the command post at the crash site. He said they used my shot to help identify plane parts and to aid in the investigation and then he thanked me graciously.

    I still feel like I got punched in the gut.

    I took this pic 2 days before the aircraft crashed killing the pilot:

    I posted the photo on here about a month after the accident and I was immediately contacted by the company. I too got a really odd feeling when I found out about it. Not like being punched in the gut, but more like having a stomach full of vomiting butterflies.

      I have a pretty good idea of how you guys feel too it was probably similar to how i felt when I heard about what happened with this plane on the very day I took this pic. I couldn't hardly sleep that night.

        Tim I know what it feels like. When I was going to school in a small town in Southwestern Colorado, I spent alot of time at the airport, and at the FBO, and I knew some of the people that went in and out of there on a regular basis. Naturally in Aviation there's going to be accidents, but when it happens to someone you might have known it hits close to home. In my case:

        Crashed later on the summer after I took the pics. Actually Denver news stations used those pics in their story (which I have yet to recieve compensation from...hint hint 9news...).

        It is a very wierd feeling when something like this happens, even though you dont know the guys, you somehow still feel a part of the crash.

          Think yourself lucky that all you had to look at was pictures before the event.

          Sparing a thought for the bereaved is one thing thing but the people that have to deal with the mess is another.
          A good friend of mine was at Lockerbie for two weeks after the event (with a break for Christmas) and those memories will stay with him for the rest of his life.

          Remember the good times......... or the bad times will drag you down.

            I have a photo I took this past summer of a homebuilt aircraft. I spoke with the owner about it for a while. When looking up info on it several months later, I found an accident report of the plane. The pilot had been killed, which was quite a kick in the gut because I had actually talked to him about 2 months before his death.

              I know the feelng:

              Remember the Mi-8 shot in Iraq with the pilot being gunned down? We knew the chap as he was a pilot o the Malta-Gozo helicopter service:

              [photoid=457859]

              And the infamous Tuninter ATR-72, was a weekly sight at our airport:

              [photoid=213478]

              This RAF Canberra had to make its returnto the Malta International Airshow, only to crash a week before.

              [photoid=185403]

              And finally, this ex-Israeli A-4 Skyhawk, which crashed one year later killing the pilot.

              [photoid=198432]

              It is indeed a very uneasy feeling. Somehow you believe that this won't happen to any plane you "know".

                Many years ago I refuelled an aeroplane belonging to a very experienced pilot, I even took a picture that in the background has it at the holding point ready to take off for a flight on which it crashed killing both onboard.

                I've known a number of people who have been killed in aviation accidents and it is always a horrible feeling. Every time I see or hear of an accident I pray for them and there families, and pray it is not one of the many people I know.
