  • F104 Demo Planes

A shot I uploaded of an F104 from the Starfighters demo team was accepted.

The comment on the email I got telling me it was accepted was to try and get the CN number myself next time, using a google search.

So I tried that, by googling the reg number, N104RB. It indeed came up with the CN number (off of A.net).

But when I searched N104RB in the Jp.net database, it came up with the same plane (it looks like) and the same N104RB, but with a different CN number. Apparantly, mine is the only one in the database with the CN number 583A-5302. The others are 183-1024.

Two different planes with the same Reg number? What gives?

    Hi,
I was the one leaving you the msg. After another search in the web I come up with the result that the CN is 583A-5302. Thank you for pointing the error on the other pics of the same AC.
    Regards

The Starfighters team operates two airplanes N104RB and N104RD. Could be that some people are confusing the tail numbers and the serial numbers.

The Starfighters web site lists the two airplanes as the following.

CF-104D 104632 "N104RB" 104632 is the serial number in the FAA registration database.

CF-104 104850 "N104RD" 104850 is the serial number in the FAA registration database.

last I knew the Starfighter team only had one plane left that was flyable. Bloke, who is part of the team posts over on Fencecheck. They used to have 2 but lost one some time ago.

According to Bloke, here is the info he gave me about the their last flyable aircraft.
        N104RB 183-1024

          Dave,

Here is all the Serial# intel on our aircraft

          N104RB:
          Lockheed Serial# 583A-5302
          Lockheed Designation: CL-90
          RCAF Serial# 12632 (Later 104632)
          RNoAF Serial# 104632

          N104RD:
          Lockheed Serial# 683A-1150
          Lockheed Designation: CL-90
          RCAF Serial# 12850 (Later 104850)
          RNoAF Serial# 104850

          N104RN:
          Lockheed Serial# 683A-1059
          Lockheed Designation: CL-90
          RCAF Serial# 12759 (Later 104759)
          RNoAF Serial# 104759

We sadly lost a pilot, not an aircraft (Tom Delashaw in 2003). 104850, needed engine work which is now obviously fixed.

Below are all three painted & ready for the 2008 air show season.

I remember last season at JAX Beach you guys had the grey 104 out there along with one of the others, very cool to see the grey one.

I don't recall the gray one at the beach in November...I'll have to check my pics and see if I caught it.
