    I think my shutter speed was too high. I had it on the automatic "action" setting.

    D40 - 55-200.

    Nice shots. A little bit of advice, don't shoot in Auto mode. Next time put your camera in Aperture mode (A mode on your comand dial). On a normal sunny day set it to F/8.

    I recommend getting out the manual and reading up on Aperture, Shutter speeds, ISO, and exposure comenstation. You can also find a lot of great beginer's guides on the web.

        As Joey suggested, spend some quality time on the web or with your camera’s manual and learn about how shutter speed, aperture and ISO work together to influence exposure.

        With the exception of the props on the Dash-8, these photos don’t look too bad to me. I usually use shutter priority when shooting aircraft – 1/200 sec. for props (to get some prop blur); 1/500 sec. or faster for jets.
