Does anyone know where the base airfield is for the Red Bull London air race on 28/29th July please ?

London city airport or so i have been lead to believe. If i can find out exactly i will be going myself.

Just spoken to the Red Bull guys and they said the infomation they have they will be operating from a specialy built airport just to the north of London City airport. My guess is that they will erect the special hangers but use London Citys runways.

Incidental to the thread, but concerning London City Airport...

I 'phoned the PR person at LCY to enquire about photography and where it's allowed. Basically, on their property, including the car park walkway is a no-no. I know that there are pics on this site taken from the steps at the end of the walkway but be advised that the police have been asked to move people on. This attitude seems to have been taken since the Glasgow incident.

She did say that photography is available on the bridge to the east of the airport ( smack under the easterly approach ) but that it's a good idea to give Woolwich police station a heads up that you'll be there.

She gave me the number for the airport Business manager who I intend to contact re: the potential for an initiative between spotters/photographers with emphasis on the anti-terrorism help that we can give. If anyone can assist with any information on similar initiatives ( I already have the Durham/Tees Valley info ) then that would be of great help in producing a suitable proposal package.

Alittle update of airfield operations for you guys:

The Temporary Runway (TRW) is where all the planes and hangars will be located. A new runway has been constructed here which will be the take off and landing base for the Air Race planes. Please note that you are welcome to view the set up from this area but you cannot view the racing action from this location. The TRW is at the following address:

Nearest DLR station is Beckton Park.
