  • Sending images to people

I have around 1500 digital photos that I would like to send a friend in Italy.. Is there a more practical way of sending them via the internet with out sending an assload of e-mails with photos in them? If there is no way I guess I will just burn them on a CD and mail it.. Thanks for your advice in advance.

Have you tried Picasa Web Albums provided by Google?

If one of you has a website with ftp access, uploading all the pics in one file and then downloading again would be fairly easy, otherwise i would recommend the CD option, especially with the amount of photos being talked about.

        you can also try

File Transfer Made Easy: With SendThisFile, securely send and receive files worldwide. Start with a free plan, and upgrade for only $5/month!

Although this is perhaps more useful for very large files. It works well.

For that amount of Pictures you might be better putting them on a DVD and sending them by post.

        Good luck.

When you think about how long it would take to upload 1500 shots, I'd say your best bet is to burn them onto a DVD and mail them as suggested before.

Don't forget how long it'll take your friend to download all those shots either!

                  1,500 at average 3 mb each = 4,500 mb.

Broadband download at average 10 mb / min = 7.5 hours download !!!!

Methinks you need an A5 envelope, a blank dvd and a postage stamp.

You could also sent them via MSN, but that will also take some time!

Alan, you misunderstand me. I was talking about 10 megabytes / minute download on a 2 megabit connection.

                        10 megabit connection ? Ohhhh, I wish.

For sending single photos, I have always restricted size to no bigger than 1mb, which is something I picked up a long time ago, so as to avoid overloading people's servers/inboxes. Is this correct? Any comments welcomed.

I'm surprised nobody has suggested to wrap them in a rar file then send that along, or upload it to megaupload and give him the link. If it takes a long time to download, so what, he can just leave it to download overnight.
