  • More screeners needed

I uploaded a shot two days ago and was a bit surprised to be told it was something like 5443 in the queue. This is anet territory! Perhaps some more screeners needed, or is it just the summer rush?

Because of the summer season we are getting between 1100-1500 uploads every day, while there is always a few screeners who are on holidays for example. We will try to get the queue lowr asap. If we are looking for screener we will anounce this. And the number of pics in the queue is no that important, what count is the time it takes till they are screened. Taking a look at the stats we are at around 4 days, till a pic is screened. I think this is still acceptable.

Hardly 'anet territory.' While I don't really bother with them anymore, it is not unusual for a shot to take 7-10 days languishing in their queue... only to have it rejected as 'horizon unlevel' because it is off by .002 degrees!

As I've said before, considering the screeners are, to my knowledge, all volunteers and have outside lives, I think this site moves pretty fast in screening photos.

I have to agree with you there!

I uploaded 3 shots to JP and A.Net at the same time the other day. Within 72 hours my shots were screened and online here, yet I am still waiting for them to have their first look by a screener at A.Net.

Keep up the great work jp screeners .

Speaking from experiance?? Know what ya mean though!

Although the queues get frustrating I find that it helps to just get on with your life, come back in a week and if their on, their on, if not, try again! No point checking every 5 mins.

            Hi,
Quiet a few screeners are on summer vacation, I was back yesterday after a 3 week trip. But we are aware of the situation and we gonna put all our strenght to reduce the queue as fast as possible.
            Cheers

the numbers can easily be chocked up to Summer rush. Most air shows are during this time so people like me who mostly just upload military aircraft this is the only time we will upload a lot of shots, once our shows are gone it's back down to the normal transit shots which are maybe 10/month.

Put these numbers on top of screeners gone on vacation it's easy to see such a large que.

Some of mine are taking at least 4 days to get through. Other than that, I have no problem with the queue. I know that it is long but I am patient and can wait a while for them. I am glad that you are doing a good job since the queue is very high.

We've screened on average 1000 photos a day so far this month, so the crew are doing a great job as far as i'm concerned. We've got a few people off on vaction too, plus increased uploading whilst the summer silly season has hit.
Yes, unfortunately you have to wait around 4 days to get your photos screened but it's really not that long a waiting time. We're getting on top of it again and hopefully you will see it go down shortly.

In the meantime please can I put some requests out that you self-screen your own photos before uploading. In particular pay careful attention to categories and information provided, as it's your responsibility to get these correct. 30 seconds extra going over these before hitting submit to make sure you've got it correct will help speed up the screening process.

                  Cheers, James

And - slightly on a humurous note - PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE ..... do not upload grainy, backlit almost unrecognizable photos taken with a mobile phone!!!

Not because they take away a slot, but because we screeners spend too much time in our forum making jokes about this photo and thus are not screening anymore!!

                        Yes, Yes, YES !

Something I have been guilty of on more than one occasion is not fully checking the data, especially the category when the autofill works. Just because autofill works does not mean that c/n and category will be automatically included.

On the subject of processing, I have got onto the habit of processing the pics on one day and rechecking them and uploading the following day, unless there's something "hot " in there. I also find myself looking again at the pics while they are in the queue, and occasionally deleting from the queue when I realise that it really isn't up to scratch even if I do like it myself.

On the subject of the queue ? 4 - 5 days works for me given the upload levels, screeners personal lives and needs for a holiday (although why Gerardo needs to go on holiday when he lives where he does with the views he's got from where he lives is quite beyond me ?? )

Keep up the good work folks, you're still streets ahead in terms of workload, compared to Anet's turn round times.

4 days is really okay...to be frank I had noticed the queue number was higher than I remembered (I don't upload that often) but I assumed that was just natural growth.

4 days i can live with. I do check my tick boxes etc now but i do get frustrated when i enter a registration i have enterd before and had photos accepted of that i still have to enter the serial number and tick boxes. Cant it be set so one an aircraft type has been logged basic things like if it is a small prop, helicopter etc are rememberd. I would hope people can tell if they are cockpit, cabin shots but it would be usefull if others where to be rememberd.
