Aviation photography, closer to extinction.......?
Aviation photography, closer to extinction.......?
As I posted on A.Net's forum as a result of this afternoon's missle bust in New Jersey and the recent breach of JFK's parameter earlier this week by some off course fishermen it would appear that our endangered hobby may be closer to extinction....at least here in the US.
Thoughts.....?

I could have never forseen the day that a hobby is endanger of becoming illegal...i'm going to keep doing it. Isn't America a free country?? It would suck bigtime if they made our little hobby illegal. I'll just prey that it stays legal.
By the way, how come JFK doesn't have a perimeter fence by the water?? That makes it quite obvious why the security breech occured.
I really don't see why it would. However after the missle attack on an El Al flight Ft. Lauderdale in their infinite wisdom decide to close an airport viewing park. Which thankfully has been re-opened due in large part to fellow FLL spotter Don Boyd who set up a petition to reopen the park.
But I digress. I don't think the hobby will become extinct completely. It just maybe harder to do. Less places to spot and the such.
Aarrghhh - the two closest airports to the place where I'm moving - New Jersey and New York.
If they ban spotting there, I'm going to cry.
"The Director also sets the record straight on what would happen if oxygen masks were to drop from the ceiling: The passengers freak out with abandon, instead of continuing to chat amiably, as though lunch were being served, like they do on those in-flight safety videos."

Just one....I would think that fishing next to JFK may be closer to extinction then photography.
I read on A.net that there was this one guy that was taking pictures at some airport and this guy that is with the Counter Terrorism force gave the photographer a card with the a phone # if he see's anything odd. He also said to the photograher that all Avaition photograhers are there second eyes.
Yes we are the second eyes out there. So lets take pictures and also keep a eye out for odd people or things.

Yeah, I read that as well and the airport was MIA. It would truley be a wonderful world if most aviation and law enforcement authorties would follow this line of thinking.

Perhaps the american spotters should move to Europe. On this side of World, police is more spotter friendly. Remember what the MAN police asked the spotters? To keep an eye out for strange activities around the fence. In my country, police and airport authoroties know what plane spotting is and where plane spotters go to watch the planes. Cooperation is so good, that even organize, together with the portuguese spotters association apron tours for us to shoot aircraft closer.
