  • Can one of you make a suggestion to the admins that the appeals page has a disclaimer that says that rude or dumb appeals will be ridiculed publicly, WITH name?

There are times Felipe when we crew would love to do this but doing so merely brings us down to their level. Publicly ridiculing them serves no purpose and is fraught with danger. Rest assured that we make it quite clear how we feel about them when we ban them, and the ban for foul, obscene language is permanent.

      • But it's not all bad...

...and then we get nice messages as well....

        Hey Brian,

Whoops! My bad! Sorry about that one. Thanks for your help on this. I greatly appreciate it!

Ps, you guys are so much nicer and better than ANet...

        • On the other hand, I would also like to tell you that some admins, I obviously can not give name, are also funny!
Since I've appealed one rejection and wrote very polite that the picture was not to be rejected, since the reason is not really a reason, all I've got back was: "Admin Comments >> over saturated and red tint" . The rejection reason was some imaginary over saturation, after appeal somebody has also found some red tint! Well, they may be right, yet the complete impersonal and unfriendly way to answer it at leas equal funny as some appeal text here presented.
Screeners are also human, I understand, but... the very little common sense to write one polite line, with a greeting formula and maybe one ending formula shouldn't be the hell to write. Ok, you may say you can't answer ellaborate answers to every appeal, but... you should! At least there where the appeal was a very nicely formulated one, I suppose also not daily to be seen!

P.S. I hereby do not contest the reasons of rejection, neither the negative appeal result, but the way it has been done!
P.P.S. Should I, after this message, expect a suddenly growing rate of rejections?

No Danielsan, you won't be getting increased rejections because of your post.

I handle a large number of the appeals and I can assure you that, unless they are really obvious I go to considerable lengths to check the rejection reasons. I have Photoshop open while working on the site and often take a picture there to check processing issues.
OK, maybe we could be more chatty when commenting on appeals but you have to remember that we are extremely busy with many other issues. So far today I have spent a total of 5 hours of my unpaid time on the site. The sun was shining today, my wife was away visiting friends and relatives and I could have gone out to take some pictures for myself but I didn't.

Thank you for your answer, Brian! Well, Responding at "hello" and "thank you" wouldn't steal soooo much time from any paid or unpaid time! It's just being polite, which we usually are, with or without money! It's who we are! And if we are NOT polite, why asking for politeness? I don't want this to sound very hard, but I'm very sure you get my point!
Have a great Christmas time, all of you behind the curtains!

P.S. I have once applied in here to spend some unpaid time in here as a screener, it seems I didn't get the chance to do so since I've got not a single answer, neither a positive nor a negative one ... but I still am open, so if you ever need to share your screening times, just let me know, my offer is still open!

                    • A great motivation email we received yesterday...

WHY IS THE SCREENING TEAM TAKING TOO MUCH TIME IN GETTING THE PHOTOS SCREENED ? THIS NEVER USED TO
HAPPEN BEFORE. EACH PHOTO HAD TAKEN MAXIMUM OF 7-8 DAYS TO BE SCREEENED. NOW IT IS TAKING MORE THAN
                      20 DAYS FOR SCREENING.

                      PLEASE RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM
                      THANK YOU

If you ban him from the website, you have less to screen and our photos are screened faster. So a win win situation

                          • Just wondering how much time you guys take to evaluate a picture. NOOOOOO I am not complaining about "it takes too long", but with a backlog of 12,000 images (at this moment) I can imagine that you have to 'glance' at a pic for just an instant to decide if it's worth bothering at all. How many people do the screening anyway?

You can take a look at the About Us page to see the screening team. Pictures in queue are taking aproximately less than 8 days to be screened from the upload date.

Thanks for the reply but that was not exactly what I meant I just imagined how you guys would "do" that. Meaning: how many pics do you think you 'judge' in an hour? And even though you must like planes.... don't you get sick and tired of the pics after a while?
