Since we are on the subject of wide angle lenses, I'd suggest the Tamron 14mm f/2.8. Yeah, it's a prime, and you can't zoom, but so what, if you're looking for something wide, chances are that's where you are going to be using it, and the 2.8 is good for low light situations. It's obviously not as wide a 10mm, but I've found it to be quite nice.

14mm is certainly wide enough on full frame, however on APS-C sized sensors (cropped/1.5/1.6..etc) it isn't, in my opinion anyway.
I use a nikon 12-24 and I still find I want wider. Most reviews rate the Canon as the best out of the three, the nikon second and the sigma 10-20 in third

Thanks for that, hopefully they will get accepted. I thought about shooting in manual but mainly on the 70-300mm shots but I wasnt confident about getting the exposure correct and I just want to get some shots in the database. You just take a reading off the grass from what I understand which gives you the best average. With a bit more experience I will definately go down that path.
I was shooting from 750th - 1000th/sec for the 10-20mm shots and letting the camera sort out the aperture.
What kit do you use?

It is THE best purchase you'll make lens wise. It's fantasic! Not just for aviation either. The effects you get with it are great. I just love mine!
Brendon, you weren't at Sydney last Sunday morning by any chance were you?
