            Neither were you Dan

Spent many an evening walking down the tops of the old piers ... and when the Aer Lingus was due we got cleared off untill it had offloaded .

            Them were the days ....

Yeah I know I do envy you (only slightly though ). Far back as I can remember was 747-100's, Gatwick full of Tristars (now taken over by 777's and 330's) and Heathrow having some interesting Russian metal on the ground.

Well, if we're talking reminiscing.......who else can remember Gatwick with just three piers you could walk on and watch the aircraft. The General Aviation Terminal next to the North Pier, where my ATC squadron helped with the England - Australia Air Race in 1968. Ariana Afghan Airlines DC-6's starting up in a cloud of smoke and flame, SAM DC-6's, CAF C-47's, Israeli AF C-97's. And further back, Transair DC-4's, assorted Connies, Capitol DC-8's, ONA DC-8's - damn, the list makes me want to cry - I never had a decent camera at 10 years old!!!!
